Fridge Brilliance

  • When Borat and Azamat speak to each other in "Kazakh", Sacha Baron Cohen is actually speaking in Hebrew while Ken Davitan is speaking Armenian. This serves as a more subtle but nevertheless brilliant jab at the Americans they interact with, who are seemingly so ignorant of non-Western cultures that none of them can tell two completely different languages apart.

Fridge Horror

  • The scenes with the xenophobic, bloodthirsty rodeo crowd and the racist, misogynistic frat boys were not staged. And those people and probably thousands more like them actually live in America.
    • While some fans are divided on the congregation of the Pentecostal church Borat visited, they at least were polite, inclusive and well-intentioned.
  • That Kazakh village Borat is from is an actual village. Though it is a Roma village in Romania and not Kazakhstan, the people there really are that poor. And they were horribly ripped off for being in the movie (with them only receiving about 3 dollars a day for the shooting) and their town being horribly slandered in the process (they weren't told what their scene was about). The documentary "Carmen meets Borat" shows the making and aftermath of the film from their perspective.
