The Aikatsu: Dream! series is a series of fanfictions written by SingMeloetta, based on the idol franchise Aikatsu!. The series follows the top idol of Polaris Academy, Madeline Sycamore, as she makes new friends with a new group of girls every season due to the founding of her own special project, called the Dream Project.
This series contains examples of:
- Color-Coded Characters: In typical Aikatsu fashion. In the first season we have:
- Momo who is apricot, Chou who is lavender, Nozomi who is orange/gold, Sora who is teal, Emi Yoshino who is yellow, Yuzuki Kurosawa who is black/white, Shizuka is plum and Madeline is magenta/grape purple.
- Costume Porn: Like the series its based on. Especially evident in brands like Crystal Queen.
- Elsewhere Fic: Instead of taking place at Starlight, Dream, or any of the other idol schools that are canon to the show, this series takes place at a new school, Polaris Academy.
- Idol Singer: Just like the source material, this fanfic follows a group of girls who become idol singers.
- Origins Episode: Has two examples, in the form of the five episode OVA The Moon Rises (for Madeline) as well as the second season, "First Dream", describing the idol lives of some of Polaris Academy's first idol students.
- Script Fic: Given that the series is written in an episodic format, this is to be expected.
- Theme Naming: Many of the characters have names relating to their own personal motifs, as well as to the theme of the season.
- Meaningful Name: This technique is also used quite a lot.
- Training Montage: Like the original series, many episodes feature these
- World of Technicolor Hair: Just like the source material, multiple characters have colorful hair that’s normal for the setting.
