Outremer
Outremer In General
- The Empire / Hegemonic Empire: It's one of the largest and politically oldest continuous empires in setting. In the current era it is no longer directly expansionist and often even insular, but it still holds the largest land army in the world just in case. It is both politically repressive and fundamentallist in nature but maintains a legitimate good standard of living for the average citizen.
- The Theocracy: The Engine of the empire is ran both by the Crown and the Church in a dual regime
- Church Militant: The empire was founded as a result of a Crusade and has been historically militaristic
- Knight Templar: Literally, most of the Dynastic elite fall into the trope and are literal templars themselves
- Feudal Future: Technological advancement has only reinforced the medieval state, the empire possesses some blatant Sci-Fi elements which have been melded by whatever means into the society of Outremer
- Medieval Stasis: Explored, due to the nature of the empire, the Outremer has seen no social change since the end of the fifth crusade, despite the technological advancement and the world burning down around them several times, the stasis ended after the second world war, when nuclear armageddon inflicted by their allies unintentionally caused a decades long nuclear catastrophe the likes of Chernobyl.
- Awakening the Sleeping Giant: This very same catastrophe has transformed the outremer from an isolationist empire in stasis into an active and malicious global power once more.
- Eurabia: Inverted, the Outremer is the result of Frankish-Coded Crusaders taking over a Middle-Eastern coded continent, but instead of apartheid or genocide the outcome was a composite culture, often times intentionally encouraged (and even forced) by the intermarriage of foreign and local peoples for the sake of consolidation by the Crown
- Melting-Pot Nomenclature: There are tens of official languages in the empire, and the main one is Outremer, a horrific composite mess of a language that made linguists in setting cut off their tongues as an excuse to quit.
- After the End: The Fifth crusade was a conflict that spiraled from a simple succession crisis to a world ending cataclysm that resulted in the spread of plague and death across the world left the Outremer the last crown standing, and picked up the pieces from there.
New Megaton
New Megaton In General
- Standard Post-Apocalyptic Setting
- One Nation Under Copyright: Both downplayed and exaggerated. Although Megaton Corps allows competition, they are the de-facto government, and the entire structure of power works exactly like one big company.
