Sweet revenge!
- The City Woman's introduction and Establishing Character Moment. She changed into a slinky black dress with shiny high-heeled shoes and stockings, forced an elderly peasant woman in her quarters to clean her shoes with a cloth, and then walks down the village road to the outside of one of the farmhouses where she voyeuristically spies a lighted window, and signaled to the man.
- Her plan for the man to drown his wife, save himself and hide the evidence, so he could go to the city with her, is pretty terrifying because of how smart and clever it was. Therefore it's Nightmare Fuel and this at the same time.
- The Woman from the City in general. Livingston does one hell of a villainous performance, and really sets in the mood of the story and darkens it whenever she's on-screen.
- The man refusing to go with the city woman's plan, and growing a sudden conscience right when he's about to throw his wife overboard. This just goes to show the as much as the man likes the city, he appreciates his wife more.
- The wife's dog deserves some credit as well, he realized how suspicious the man was at the time did whatever it took to get to the wife and protect her. This involved breaking out of his chain, jumping over a tall gate, and swimming across the lake until he got to the boat.
- The Wife forgiving the man and kissing him, causing him to officially turn over a new leaf in showing his love for her.
- The Man defending the Wife from an obtrusive Gentleman admirer, by threatening the fear-stricken man with his pocket knife is this and Heartwarming at the same time.
- The Man catching a runaway piglet that got loose in the Amusement Park. He even got the band to play Midsummer shortly afterward as a reward.
- To prove that his love for the wife was completely real, the man used the same bulrushes he meant to save himself with earlier, and tied them up to the wife to save her.
- Then when the city woman tried to convince him to come to the city again when the wife was seemingly dead, the man stood up to the woman for the first time ever, and strangled her for using him earlier (as shown in the page picture). Showing the city woman he would NOT abandon his wife, or hang out with anyone who would separate them. This forces her to leave the country, and go back to her place.
- The couple sweet reunion during the end is both this and heartwarming. There's also the fact that the wife survived the storm at all.
