The book:

  • Wegg tries to blackmail Boffin. He fails spectacularly, because there's a third will. Mr. Boffin has every reason to be furious with Wegg. But though he's angry he's still such a Nice Guy that he decides to give Wegg enough money to buy another stall, because he doesn't want to leave Wegg any worse off than he found him.

The 1998 series:

  • Twemlow defends Eugene and Lizzie's marriage when Lady Tippins and her friends mock it.
Twemlow: If this gentleman's feelings of gratitude, of respect, of admiration, of affection, induce him to marry this lady—
    Party-goer: Lady?
    [The other man doesn't answer]
Twemlow: I say again, that if this gentleman's feelings induced him to marry this lady, then... he is the greater gentleman for the action. And she is the greater lady.
