Awesome moments from Nioh 2

  • One awesome thing in Nioh 2, is the new melee finisher you can do on Yokai. When they're staggered, you can run up to them and just stab them right in the face. Feels especially cathartic if you played the first game; as you can also do that move on returning enemies that gave you a hard time- like the Namahage, Rokurokubi, or those bastard Raven Tengu's.
  • Hide introduces themself to Tokichiro and later Saito Dosan by dramatically and partially unsheathing their inscribed dagger, Audible Sharpness included. It is such a memorable shot that so many players use this scene to show off their character customizations.
  • Mumyo's introduction. After Hide's killed a greater yokai, Mumyo ambushes them with the intent to sweep them up before the fight can even start, leading to a brief but intense clash with Hide's instincts trying to keep up from getting caught off guard from her tricky switchglaive, only getting her back for it when Tokichiro enters and distracts her for a moment.
  • Magara Naotaka's introduction has him casually sweep aside some skeletons before swinging at Honda Tadakatsu with relentless aggression, who gets overpowered by the former's new demonic strength. Hide pulls a Big Damn Heroes intercepting a blow that could have just as well smashed their own katana in two.
  • The reunion of the former duo at Komaki and Nagakute, Tokichiro tries to cut them a deal while Hide lets their blade do the talking cutting down the skeletons attending to him in an unflinching walk to let him know just exactly what they think of his deal.
  • Daigo Temple begins with Hide working their way through a beautiful garden, but the mission doesn't truly start until you release the first of many encased remains of Tokichiro's conscience. Climbing your way up a steep hill, chunks of land rise into the sky to set the stage. Cue the music.
  • The final boss fight in the base game against Otakemaru, has Tokichiro assist you with his spirit companion while he encourages you. Once the boss is down to zero health the player gets the Melee Finisher prompt. Hide prepares to deliver the finishing move, only for Otakemaru to deflect it! Hide engages in a short but fierce exchange of blows, parries the final strike and trusts his blade in Otakemaru's gut, before wrenching it upwards and out, ending the fight.
  • The Tengu's Disciple opens immediately with Minamoto no Yoshitsune performing his legendary eight boat leap at Dan no Ura, cutting down the Taira's rank and file with style.
  • After the first fight with Minamoto no Yorimitsu, a cutscene follows with a clash of two of the most skilled warriors fighting with the exact same weapon, at one point she blocks Hide's swing without even looking!
  • Darkness In the Capital's final main mission, "Palace of the Damned", sees you team up with Abe No Seimei and Minamoto No Raiko. Which is frankly a dream team. The three most powerful warriors in the game working together to slay high level demons and save the city is a very epic experience.
