  • The conveyor belt sequence. The workers are all lined up doing their jobs on endless machine parts, including the Tramp, who was tightening bolts on an endless series of machine parts. Then there's the workers' speed and accuracy when they were doing their parts. That takes serious talent.
  • The technology during factory scenes. The manager had a two-way TV screen with on-line audio and video transmission, where he can view all parts of the plant operation. Back then, people could only imagine having that kind of technology. Not bad for the 30s.
  • While he was in prison, the Tramp got high from cocaine and lost his way to his cell, then he came across a jailbreak occurring at that point where the warden and a team of officers were being held gun hostage and locked in a cell. He then dodges the gunfire when the criminals try to shoot him, knocks them out and releases the guards that have been locked in a cell. Repeat, it was 3 against 1, the criminals were armed, and the Tramp only had his fists and a nearby door, and who wins? The Tramp! And get this, he never would have discovered the jailbreak if he hadn't got high from that cocaine earlier.
    • As a reward for saving those officers the Tramp was treated pleasantly and given his own private cell. With better food, clothes, and shelter (espically since it was during the The Great Depression). Even though he was falsely accused of a crime, he was actually enjoying his time in prison.
  • The gamin saving the Tramp from skating off of a balcony with a missing rail.
  • The Tramp's "singing waiter" number. For a magical few minutes, Chaplin found a balance that allowed the Tramp to speak after a fashion and still be culturally universal in pantomime.
  • The ending of the film. Rather than the Tramp walking off into the distance alone, like he usually does at the end of his films, in his final appearance he gets to have the gamin he met earlier by his side. It's a sweet ending to an excellent comedy saga. It also doubles as Heartwarming since it proves the duo's faith and trust in each other.
