The Novel:

  • Vera playing Lombard like a fiddle by exploiting his sexism to get his gun from him.
  • At one point Vera and Lombard discuss who they think the killer is. Vera comes up with the excellent argument that Armstrong had a perfect way to commit the third murder while almost getting himself exonerated. Lombard flat out says that Wargrave is the killer, and accurately sums up Wargrave's true mental state.
