PP Chapter 9: Problem Resolved, Prayer Warriors Style

Written By: Ebony
POV: Third person

The author begins by saying that not all Christians are bad, and that they are to Turn the Other Cheek. She then turns to the subject of a certain other user who is threatening to report her, and says that since she isn't breaking any rules, those who disagree with her should ignore the story, which is for Christian readers.

The chapter begins where the last left off. As Rainbow Dash screams at her, Fluttershy sees something in his eyes and decides to forgive him. Fluttershy apologizes for her actions and decides to let Rainbow Dash marry Applejack, believing that their different religious views should not get in the way of living happy lives, which makes the drama of the last two chapters pointless.

Rainbow Dash forgives her with a hug and a kiss that the author points out is non-cheating. Applejack follows suit and asks for Fluttershy's forgiveness for the way she treated her as an atheist. They discover that friendship is magic, and while people might not always agree, they should cherish those agreements, using an example of two people who like Pokémon enjoying a Pokemon fanfic together. This slightly borders on Family-Unfriendly Aesop, as a warped version of the "accept other people's differences" aesop, but it's significantly more positive than most of the Prayer Warriors' beliefs, and if they'd adopted it, hundreds if not thousands would not have lost their lives.

In any case, Charity has a fairly lackluster track record for conversions. Save for Twilight, who converts in large part because she's ignorant and easily impressionable, she has the following results.

  • Pinkie Pie only converts because of some Bad Dreams that God sent.

  • Spike converts after being struck by a Bolt of Divine Retribution

  • Fluttershy converts after her trek up K2. Granted, Spike helped, but it didn't come across as a result of his direct influence.

  • Applejack and Rainbow Dash, in a surprising twist, refuse to convert, and live to tell about it.

That's only 1 for 6 as far as Charity and her fellow ponies in Christ converting others through their own efforts goes. Celestia is yet another failure, but while they may yet convert her, I wouldn't hold my breath, even considering the kind of fic this is.

The priest gets the "I do"s from the bride and groom, and pronounces them husband and wife, to the joy of everyone in the church (with Spike almost burning it down, but for the holy power protecting it), thereby contradicting the previous chapter's saying that this was not in a church and not done by a priest.

Celestia interrupts the ceremony, and it turns out that she has gone from being a princess to being a queen, and threatens all Christians and their atheist friends with her wrath.

The author tells us that not all atheists are like this, and to show this, has Applejack stand up for her friends, thereby making atheism look good. Celestia, however, is unimpressed, and abducts Applejack with dark magic, fueled by "the rage to destroy every pony in the world", as the narration points out that she is a Satanist, a group of people that is bad, unlike atheists.

The author says that the next chapter will be the last, and apologizes for her rudeness, saying that she wants to be everyone's friend and "did not ask to be this way." She encourages us to read her Pokemon story, and ends on a less friendly note by telling us not to report it.

That's all for now. I'll let you know when and if the author updates The Prayer Ponies. Thank you for reading this, and I hope you also check out my liveblogs for Girls und Panzer and The Stalking Zuko Series.

For now, we're going back to the Evil Gods Part II, for the Jupiter arc and the conclusion of the fic.

Next Installment: Jupiter tortures and murders some of the captive Prayer Warriors, a rare case in which the heroes can't fight back.

I must say, having just Archive Binged all 85 chapters, that I greatly admire you for all the time and effort you put in liveblogging this terrifying, terrifying set of fics. Looking forward to next installments.

Kakai,

I'm glad to hear that you liked it. I'll get back to it if I find the original fics for the later part of the series.
