* EvenBetterSequel: Depending on who you ask, ''Project CARS 2'' is either one of these tropes, with particular compliments given to the revamped time of day and weather systems, a better-structured career mode, and vastly improved handling on controllers.

* {{Sequelitis}}: ''Project CARS 3'' is generally considered the nadir of the series due to removal of sim elements and making it harder to earn money in the career mode (instead of winning races, players have to level up), along with numerous flaws in its game design, making it poorly received by fans, while [[CriticalDissonance critics are bit more mixed]]. It didn't help that the game came after the generally-considered-terrible ''Videogame/FastAndFuriousCrossroads'' by the same developer.

* BrokenBase: ''Project CARS 3'' has torn a massive rift in the fanbase from the very moment it was formally announced, due to the direction the game is taking compared to the first two games. Hardcore sim racers have already dismissed the game, accusing it of being more arcade-like and removing certain simulation elements from the game while more casual fans seem to be on-board with the game being more of a spiritual successor to Slightly Mad's previous ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedShift'' games.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** A Day In The Life: Race an entire ''[[MarathonLevel twenty-four hours]]'' '''''[[UpToEleven in real time]]'''''. It's obvious only 0.1% of people who own the game on {{UsefulNotes/Steam}} have this achievement because most sane people don't have the time, patience and/or a group of friends for this unless they've ''actually'' raced the real life UsefulNotes/TwentyFourHoursOfLeMans or they're doing some kind of charity stream. Even then, they're not playing them alone.

* FanNickname: Calling ''Project CARS 3'' ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedShift Need for Speed: Shift 3]]'' is fairly common given the game resembles the latter far more than it does to its prequels.

** Going hardcore in general by setting the assists to be car-based (generally off), having no visual aids like the best line indicator and DrivingStick without any gear or clutch related assistance (meaning revv-matching is important to avoid stalling, lurching or even spinning out on more sensitive cars, it's best to stay in gear until you clear a corner or curve, straighten out then shift down to the appropriate gear). It's incredibly hard but it feels great when you master any older manual car like the aforementioned F1.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: After suspicions from pre-release gameplay that pit stops had been blocked off in the first pre-release gameplay video of ''Project CARS 3'', the confirmation that pit stops, fuel and tire wear would be removed from the game in a pre-release dev blog has so far been poorly received by fans.
