* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Back in 1998, ''ComicBook/AvengersForever'' introduced a time-travelling Songbird, who came from the near future where she is a member of the Avengers. The writer of that story, Creator/KurtBusiek, never did a of follow-up where the present-day Songbird would join the team, and in the following years, she was never a member of any version of the Avengers... Until she joins one in this book. Since Creator/AlEwing is extremely well-versed in Marvel history, and often brings back elements from older comics, you'd think he would use this opportunity to finally show Songbird travelling back in time to take part in the earlier story? But that doesn't happen, and she [[spoiler:quits the team in the final issue of this book]], ensuring that no ''Avengers Forever'' [[CallBack call-backs]] will be seen in the sequel series ''ComicBook/USAvengers'' either.

** The period when the team has been split in two is all too brief. There's only one issue featuring "Wiccan's Kooky Quartet", and ''zero'' issues featuring the rest of A.I.M. operating in secret from the Savage Land, before the two sides are reunited for the final story arc.

** The writing has gotten some flak for its focus on being fun sci-fi with occasional dips into seriousness. For some, its an awesome reinvention of the Avengers that embraces the fun comics can have without sacrificing depth and character development, while others feel its ''too'' fun that it makes any serious development in the book feel weak.
** Teddy's handling, as an extension of his handling in general from previous work[[note]]a number of Young Avengers readers have complained for a while now how Teddy is often relegated to being just Billy's love interest rather than getting his own plot and focus[[/note]]. For some, fleshing out his connection and importance to the Skrull and Kree gives him some needed character focus, while others feel that they wasted established mythology to create new ideas and are cynical over how the plot essentially leads to more focus on Billy.

* LoveItOrHateIt: This is either the worst disgrace of a comicbook ever committed to print or the coolest thing ever. With almost no opinion in-between. (Goes back to the point of being an old school and gleefully ridiculous comic.) This largely depends on how the reader feels about the artwork.
