* FanNickname:
** Some people have taken to calling her "Godga", sometimes extended "Praise Godga!". Likewise, Beyoncé is sometimes called "Beysus".
** Gaga also has the nicknames of "Lady Caca" ("[[DontExplainTheJoke Spanish for "crap"]]), while would be insanely ironic; the name Lady Gaga came from a mishearing of Queen's song "Radio Ga Ga", which in TURN came from a mishearing of Roger Taylor's son saying "radio ca-ca" while listening to a bad song on the radio while Queen was in Los Angeles. And that's when it's not "Lady Cock-a", "Man Gaga", "Lady Gag", "Lady Gag-Gag", "Lady Gay-Gay" (a nod to her being an LGBT rights activist), "Lady Dada", "Mama Monster", "The Lady of Gagalupe", and "Ga-Galore". A tongue-in-cheek remix compilation done by Digital Vomit credited the tracks to her as "Lady Gagging."
** On the other hand, several fictional characters have also been nicknamed "Lady Gaga", generally because of their blond hair and/or their [[FashionVictimVillain outrageous]] [[ImpossiblyCoolClothes fashion]] [[TheFashionista senses]]. Here are some examples:
*** [[http://www.magiccards.info/som/en/26.html A card]] in ''TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering'' (specifically nicknamed ''"OMG they killed Lady Gaga!"'')

It must be stated again and again. The murder of George Floyd doesn't mean everything involving police brutality and racial profiling is suddenly Harsher In Hindsight. It's been a thing forever. She was commenting on things that were happening right then and there.

* HarsherInHindsight: One of the songs in the album ''Joanne'' was "Angel Down", a song about police brutality and the corrupt ignorance of the government made as a response to the death of Trayvon Martin. Almost four years later, the death of George Floyd happened around the same time as her next album, ''Chromatica'', and his and several other deaths caused a strong resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement and many riots in America fighting against the issues of racism and police brutality in America. Lady Gaga even wrote a letter taking part in the movement in response to Floyd's death, and it shows that her opinion hasn't changed at all since ''Joanne'' was released.

These are all real-life examples, for which there's a 25 year waiting period.

* NeverLiveItDown:
** '''The Meat Dress'''. Years after she wore it, people still bring it up when chastising her outlandish dress.
** Her SXSW performance of "Swine", in which guest performance artist Millie Brown chugged a bottle of neon-green-colored milk, then purged her throat and '''''puked it all over Gaga.'''''
** The perceived flop of the ''ARTPOP'' era. The lead single "Applause" didn't see as much success as smash hits [[Music/KatyPerry "Roar"]] and [[Music/MileyCyrus "Wrecking Ball"]] [[note]]Although "Applause" was successful in its own right.[[/note]]. ''ARTPOP'' got rather low American debut sales for an album that was heavily promoted [[note]]Rumors that said Gaga's label lost $25 million due to the album and had to lay off staff didn't help.[[/note]] and anticipated, while ''Prism'' and ''Bangerz'' did much better. ''BEYONCÉ'''s massive success despite literally no prior promotion made before its release made ''ARTPOP'' look worse in comparison. Naturally, Gaga's haters are thriving in their opportunity to call her a flop [[note]]Which is inaccurate. While the argument could be made that ''ARTPOP'' underperformed, it still became the ninth best-selling album of 2013 with 2.3 million copies sold. "Applause" and "Do What U Want" did well on the charts (only moderately in the latter's case), and ''artRave: The ARTPOP Ball'' has been a success thus far.[[/note]].

* PresumedFlop: Ask anyone on the performance of her 2013 album ''Artpop'', and most will say that it was a flop, marking the point when she fumbled away her success overnight. However, in spite of lukewarm reviews and a genuine waning of mainstream interest, ''Artpop'' did sell very well -- it was her second number 1 debut on Billboard with 258,000 copies on the first week, and the ninth global best-selling album of 2013 with 2.3 million copies worldwide. A lot of the exaggeration can be attributed to the fact that it was underperformance ''for Gaga standards'' -- many compare it to ''Born This Way'' and its monolithic 1.1 million first-week sales, though even that figure is misleading given that album's unusual rollout, consequent sharp decline[[note]]''Born This Way'' was such a once-in-a-lifetime success that it [[https://www.spin.com/2011/11/lady-gaga-fire-sale-leads-change-billboard-chart-rules/ caused Billboard henceforth to change its entire criteria on what counts as an "album sale"]][[/note]], and resting at its own comparable 2.5 million in total lifetime sales. [[https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5862267/lady-gaga-discounts-rumors-hints-at-deception-in-website-vent Gaga was particularly offended by the rumor started by Examiner]] that ''Artpop'' led to a $25 million loss and massive layoffs, [[CommonKnowledge a claim which was spread by many news outlets at the time despite its lack of substantial proof.]]

!!Lady Gaga, being the person she is, is open to a lot of debate, among fans and others.

** Quite a few examples.

** Bloody Mary also has a classical opening
** She once advertised a theraputic course she'd taken by posting a clip of herself on it wearing a blindfold while otherwise naked in a forest clearing, and loudly yelling. Literally noone has a clue what was going on.

** "Born This Way," meant to be an anthem about accepting yourself, whoever or whatever you may be. It's not even subtle about the message, and it forgoes symbolism and her usual mystique of her music; it just straight up says that you were born perfect and should accept yourself, over and over. It's a good song and [[SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped a good message, delivered with the same subtlety as a brick to the face]].

*** In general, ARTPOP quickly garnered this response from people; either she had made a fun, sexy, light-hearted comeback, or she dropped the ball and alienated fans left and right. It didn't help that it ended up being completely overshadowed by other albums upon release, despite the amount of effort she put into promoting it, and that two of the tracks ("Aura" and "Gypsy") could be seen as culturally insensitive.

** Conversely, her re-embrace of the campy ''Fame''-era dance-pop and outlandish costumes in ''Chromatica'' won back a number of fans who were concerned her success with ''Joanne'' and ''A Star Is Born'' would see her continue to pursue a cleaner, more "normal" image.

* InternetBackdraft: Lady Gaga's hatedom is just as passionate as Little Monsters. A few of her actions has also had some backlash:
** Gaga has been accused repeatedly of cultural appropriation, most recently with her song "Aura", which has drawn criticism for sexualising the burqa. The fact that Gaga has worn several glitzy "burqas" and initially referred to the offending track as "Burqa" ''really'' doesn't help.
** During Pride Month 2014 she made a poorly-worded tweet that seemingly referred to herself as a straight person who supported gay rights. Basically, this led to detractors claiming that she has lied about being bisexual for a good 5 or 6 years and piggybacked fame from the gay community.
** Making "Do What U Want" with Music/RKelly. By this point it'd been CommonKnowledge that he was a sex offender for about 15 years, so fans were wondering what on earth possessed her to pick him to feature on the song, especially when there was also a significantly better received version with Music/ChristinaAguilera going unused. Then there's the unreleased video directed for some reason by Terry Richardson (also a sex offender) which featured Kelly as a doctor putting her to sleep and saying "When you wake up, you'll be pregnant". When allegations against R-Kelly came up again after Me Too, Gaga officially pulled the song and video off all platforms, but this just caused fans to wonder why it took her 6 years.
