Pulled due to Unfortunate Implications requiring citations. Might restore a few under more appropriate tropes.

  • Unfortunate Implications:
    • Not Lady Gaga, but with Colby in the song "Just Dance". After Lady Gaga sings about being so drunk she forgets where she is, Colby sees "no reason" why she can't go home with him. What?!
    • "Born This Way" uses terms such as "chola" and "Orient", which are...frowned upon.
    • Another "Born this Way" example. She refers to accepting those with disabilities however during an interview she referred to the accusation that she was copying Madonna as retarded which is a derogatory slang for the mentally handicapped. She later withdrew the comment.
    • Gaga's indigence about the rumors of her being transsexual/intersex implies that being transsexual/intersex is a bad thing. This is especially unfortunate considering her status as such a well known LGBT supporter.
    • Gaga stating that she idolizes John Lennon. Her peace sign tattoo inspired by him. She claims to be a feminist and it all suggests disingenuousness if you know/realize that John Lennon was a self-admitted Domestic Abuser. In Gaga's defense she is probably not aware of this herself.
      • In the same vein, Lady Gaga's collaborations with accused sex offenders Terry Richardson and R. Kelly and her support of Julian Assange, all of whom have been accused of some form of sexual violence, seem to fly directly in the face of feminist ethos. At least in the case of R. Kelly, Lady Gaga seems to be distancing herself from the version of "Do What U Want" that features him in favour of her solo version. Even so, the unaltered version of the R. Kelly video was even more rape-y (and directed by Richardson), and only got scrapped because a source in Gaga's camp blew the whistle. A fuming Gaga blamed the delayed release on the traitorous employee, missing the point entirely.
    • Gaga has been accused repeatedly of cultural appropriation, most recently with her song "Aura", which has drawn criticism for sexualising the burqa. The fact that Gaga has worn several glitzy "burqas" and initially referred to the offending track as "Burqa" really doesn't help.
    • During Pride month 2014 she referred to herself on twitter as a straight person who supported gay rights. Basically, this means she has lied about being bisexual for a good 5 or 6 years and piggybacked fame from the gay community. Thanks, Gaga.

Amazing how any tropes that cast her in a bad light keep disappearing from this page...

Being in a Japanese-produced work is not enough of a difference to warrant its own trope.
