* OneSceneWonder: Creator/KotonoMitsuishi (Yes, '''''that''''' Kotono Mitsuishi) as the Receptionist Succubus. Just for the sheer absurdity of ''Sailor fucking Moon'' voicing a big-titted succubus who constantly gropes herself in a low-budget, lowbrow fantasy anime for exactly one scene.

* SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct: After voicing several characters of TheCutie and TheStoic archetypes, there were some who believed Creator/SoraAmamiya lacked vocal range. Her work as Aqua earned her a lot of praise.
** On the other hand, this has also resulted in the tongue-in-cheek criticism that the role doesn't require much acting from her part, since the way Aqua behaves is not that far from how Sora is in real life.

* SignatureLine: "I yearn for true gender equality. I have no patience for [[DoubleStandard one who talks about female privilege when it suits them, and then complains about someone "not being a man" when it's convenient]]."

Doesn't help for the teenaged [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline Alice]], which shares the Japanese voice actor, she use the same tone of voice with Darkness. On the English side, whenever Darkness speaks in a serious or lower tone, Cristina uses her [[VideoGame/TalesofBerseria Velvet]] voice. And considering the [[AloofDarkHairedGirl type]] [[ByronicHero of]] [[NinetiesAntiHero person]] Velvet is...

** With ''LightNovel/ReZero'' over which title deconstructed the "trapped in a strange world" genre better. Either you think ''[=KonoSuba=]'' did it better because it's a self-aware parody that tries to stay as far away from the genre's common tropes as possible, or you think ''Re:Zero'' did it better since it played many genre tropes straight but applies a DarkerAndEdgier feel to the genre. Then you have [[TakeAThirdOption some people that like both]]. Ironically, the authors of both series are close friends.
** Alternately, with ''{{LightNovel/Overlord}}'' since Aqua and Lord Ainz as a hypothetical fight came up. This conversation tends to come up, then devolve into an argument pages long, then inevitably waste away into one side or the other disparaging their rivals and their home series. Ditzy goddess {{GMPC}} versus TheRoleplayer lichking SquishyWizard, FIGHT!

** With ''LightNovel/GrimgarOfFantasyAndAsh.'' Both shows aired in the same season and focus on [[{{Deconstruction}} deconstructing]] the TrappedInAnotherWorld trope, which has practically become its own sub-genre in the LightNovel industry. Unlike almost every other example of the trope, the protagonists of both series don't become all-powerful badasses, and they are stuck with rather [[WithFriendsLikeThese incompetent party members]]. The major difference falls in the tone of each show, with ''Grimgar'' being deadly serious and ''Konosuba'' being light-hearted fun, making for an interesting contrast between the two.

** Unsurprisingly with ''LightNovel/TheHeroIsOverpoweredButOverlyCautious'', which shares a humorous tone, comedic goddess female leads, and are both {{Affectionate Parod|y}}ies of the "''Narou'' Isekai" trend.

** The same goes for Website/{{Crunchyroll}}'s Latin American Spanish feed, after their second batch of dubbed anime (''Anime/{{Free}}'', ''LightNovel/ReZero'', ''Webcomic/MobPsycho100'' and others) suffered from the TooLongDidntDub trope by adding Japanese honorifics, which were added at [[ExecutiveMeddling Crunchyroll's insistence, as the company has a corporate policy on adding them in their subs on all languages]] [[ValuesDissonance completely ignoring the fact honorifics are rarely used in Latin American dubs and both actors and viewers alike dislike using them]]. This show, along other shows from their third Spanish-dubbed batch, finally avoid this trope entirely, with the sole exceptions of the use of the terms "otaku" and "hikkikomori" in the dub.

** For the English Dub, Creator/PatrickSeitz's performance as Verdia may have been well received, but due to Patrick's huge resume of voices, it's fairly easy to imagine Patrick's other roles in the place of Verdia. The most common are out-of-character choices, [[Franchise/MortalKombat Scorpion]], [[Franchise/JoJosBizarreAdventure Dio Brando]] and [[Franchise/BlazBlue Ragna the Bloodedge]].

** With ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Diamond is Unbreakable]]'' as of recently since both the first season of ''[=KonoSuba=]'' and the ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' anime aired in 2016 one season apart from each other. With the ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' anime concluding in the Fall 2016 season the new season of ''[=KonoSuba=]'' due to being highly anticipated is filling the void ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' left after it concluded for seasonal anime viewers.

** Kazuma's constant perverted antics, like stealing panties and sexual harassment, and almost always getting away with it. Despite being played for laughs, this is seen as particularly vile by some people in the west, especially when one considers how much more unacceptable sexual harassment cases have become. Defending his actions by stating that he is an advocate of "true gender equality" may be outright offensive to some viewers. The series largely functions on SlapstickKnowsNoGender, so Kazuma is often subject to harassment himself, although whether this makes it better or worse is also up to interpretation.

** Wiz is also liked for being polite to mostly everyone she meets, and [[BuxomIsBetter for her]] [[StatuesqueStunner looks]].

** In the light novels, when Princess Iris is introduced. In a series that plays itself like a parody, Iris is a jarring introduction bordering on Mary Sue. She's a perfect sweet angel in contrast to the dumb but loveable rest of the party, she's better than even the Crimson Clan at magic, she's actually the descendant of the Heroes who beat the Demon King before, wields a giant badass legendary sword that she's a skilled user of, basically has to be put on a bus so she doesn't curbstomp every problem in the series, and she's shoved into the story as a potential love interest for Kazuma. The checklist goes on.

** Surprisingly enough, [[JerkassWoobie Aqua]] can dip into this. Sure, after being dragged into the parallel world, her BitchInSheepsClothing attitude seen since the first episode ''never'' changes; she constantly ranges from belitting Kazuma, to going off the deeper end by putting her own self over others, the former of which sort of justifies [[LaserGuidedKarma any punishment coming]] [[AssholeVictim at her]]. However, it's hard to not feel at least a bit sorry for the undeserved misfortune she goes through. Most notably, Aqua is a goddess who had no idea [[LoopholeAbuse a god could be picked as a "cheat item"]], and has no true experience about the parallel world, lamenting about [[YouCantGoHomeAgain being trapped there until AND only until Kazuma and her kill the]] BigBad. The world isn't necessarily a friendly place to just anybody, and despite her following in the Axis church being strong, nobody ever believes [[CassandraTruth she is the real goddess Aqua standing in front of them]]. [[{{Jerkass}} Kazuma]] constantly [[UngratefulBastard blames her]] (often simply out of the blue) for being [[TheLoad utterly useless and dumb]] and for causing the majority of the trouble that comes at their party (sometimes due to her holy status), when he's the one who [[NiceJobBreakingItHero dragged her to the world]] in the first place; he did this ''out of spite'' for laughing at his admittedly ridiculous death. [[StoryBreakerPower Her holy powers]] have actually saved their rear on occasion, but Kazuma only remembers her party tricks outside of those occasions. Aqua has also had her PetTheDog moments throughout the series, devoid of any of her jerkass personality. Lastly, although she does have [[VitriolicBestBuds a very vitriolic relationship with Kazuma]], she is fond of him deep down as well as with [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits her teammates]], and knows that, despite all she wants to do is to return to her home in the Heavens and resume her lifestyle as a goddess, the only way to do so is with the help of her friends.

* UncannyValley:
** Being a Creator/StudioDEEN anime the in-between animation can come off as this at times but for a lot of people it actually added to the charm of the series.
** Episode [=2x08=]. Aww, lookit the adorable sleeping Megumin, isn't she just preci-- '''''Oh God, why does Wiz have a set of lips for an eye?!'''''

* MemeticBadass: Kazuma. Due to being the antithesis of the average [[HaremGenre Harem Protagonist]] [[note]]Kazuma being sarcastic, rude, and openly perverted[[/note]] it's actually won him over a lot of fans. Unfortunately, this also has a tendency to crossover into MisaimedFandom territory as well since some fans will glorify him ''specifically'' for his negative traits.

** Aqua has pretty much become the anime fandom's punching bag thanks to being TheLoad, a trait that's very frequently lampshaded InUniverse. If there's any word to describe her, it's ''useless''.

** Kazuma is either seen as one of the funniest and most refreshing light novel male-leads in a while, or simply frustrating to watch. Some find it very funny that he's treated like [[MemeticLoser a loser]] in-universe and it's played for comedic effect unlike other light novel leads who are made to be overpowered. Others, however, find him aggravating to watch since he [[StaticCharacter never develops]] as a character and is the same [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]] [[{{Jerkass}} jerk]] he was introduced as. A lot of his defenders, however, point out that the detractors take him too seriously and that he's not meant to be a character who develops or makes any progress, plus he has actually had his [[PetTheDog softer moments]].

** [[{{Deuteragonist}} Aqua]] being a BitchInSheepsClothing often causes a divide among viewers. Some actually think it's funny that she's an unpleasant bitch in contrast to her divine nature and don't mind it when she complains or does something annoying since she usually gets her comeuppance, and contributes to the anime's humor. Others find her to be unbearable ([[UpToEleven especially after Season 2]]) and the root of most of the problems the party has had. [[TakeAThirdOption Or she's both]].
