* CriticalDissonance - The film is panned as a "flippant failure" in a Disney-authorized book, along with Cult Classics AtlantisTheLostEmpire and TreasurePlanet. Conversely, the film praises Disney/Pocahontas, which is generally considered the weakest of the Disney Renaissance, and in a WallBanger to end all Disney-related Wall Bangers, it praises Disney/ChickenLittle and HomeOnTheRange, which are generally considered the two absolute worst entries in the canon. And it completely neglects to mention how popular Hades is while praising possibly the least cool/menacing villain in the canon, Governor Radcliffe!

\"Adorkable\" and \"Pragmatic Villainy\" are not YMMV. Also, rearranged some tropes.

* Adorkable: Herc himself fits this, especially as a youngster. Even as an adult, he's still sorta awkward.

* PragmaticVillainy: Hades main reason for wanting Hercules dead is a prophecy says he's TheChosenOne who'd defeat his scheme. Otherwise he'd have left him alone.
** This is further shown in the crossover with Aladdin. Here Hades doesn't take it personally when Aladdin first defeats Pain and Panic. Needless to say Jafar was shocked:

* NightmareFuel: The Fates share an eye between them. One. Single. Eye.
** The Titans are so scary, they almost look like they were coming out of the screen.
** The Hydra: it's monstrous, no pun intended, and what makes it scarier is that it's like the one monster that gave Hercules trouble - even more than the titans, it was the only thing that came close to killing him.
** Meg is seen dying in agony and then shown clearly as dead as Disney can get away with on a G rating.
** Hercules' rescue of her soul showing his rapid aging gives both kids and adults nightmares.
** As if these two aforementioned examples weren't enough, the Fates attempting to cut both threads of life with scissors is enough to make viewers young and old cringe and hold their breaths in fright of what would happen.

Afterwards however...)
** Arguably, The Fates as well.

*** Note that Hercules himself actually flew into insane rages and murdered innocents several times. Including his wife and kids. The 12 Labors of Hercules? Basically a glorified community service project.
**** Hera used her godly powers on Heracles, driving him into madness so that he would be guilty and attempt to do the 10 labors
** And Hera was not the loving mother as depicted in the movies, in the original stories she outright hated him and he was not her biological son, he was born of a mortal woman.
** HandWaved by Phil with his comment about "not to believe all the stories".
