** Yamato has a tendency to be beaten up, be it physically or mentally, but near the end it was not uncommon for Yamato to somehow get beaten up badly enough to either draw blood or need a bandaid, even if his other teammates were just fine. This has lead to some jokes about how the make-up department must've had a fetish for seeing the actor in pain or bloodied up.

* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Lord Ginis]], an alien with an InferioritySuperiorityComplex, despises being made of Moebas, beings he looks down upon. Creating the Deathgaliens, Ginis uses them to serve as his warriors in the "[[BloodSport Blood Games]]"--wherein he challenges and destroys other worlds--currently having done so to [[OmnicidalManiac 99 planets]] and now targeting Earth. Creating an ever-collapsing barrier around planet Earth, Ginis plans to allow it to destroy the world unless the heroes managed to deactivate it. Although his barrier is stopped, Ginis sets up a destructive robot to continue his genocidal plans. [[ManipulativeBastard Cunning and manipulative]], Ginis tricks the friendless Misao Mondo(u) into becoming his servant and hires a sadistic alien hunter to make his "game" of planetary destruction more interesting for himself. When one of his men betrays Ginis after finding he was responsible for the destruction of his home planet, Ginis defeats and spares him, before watching with amusement as the [[DrivenToMadness broken man]] insanely destroys everything in his path. After all but one of his followers are killed, Ginis decides to end the Blood Game by injecting his cells into the core of the Earth, wiping it out entirely. Incapable of loyalty or gratitude, when the Zyuohgers discover Ginis' body to be made of Moebas and reveal it to his last remaining follower and she declares her loyalty to him in spite of this, Ginis, cruel to the end, [[BadBoss kills her off]] for [[DontYouDarePityMe daring to pity him]].

Manipulating and brainwashing the friendless Misao Mondo(u) into painfully becoming the evil Zyuoh The World, while infusing him with the spirits of three Zyuman he had killed, and hiring the vile [[GreatWhiteHunter Hunter Bangray/Bunglay]] to play and make the game more interesting. After Cubaru betrays him as vengeance for destroying his homeworld, Ginis easily defeats and spares him, but only to amuse himself by watching Cubaru hysterically destroy everything in a vain attempt to please him. Once all but he and his minion Naria are dead, he chooses to end the Blood Game in a twistedly glorious way; he'd inject his cells into the Earth's core, destroying it from the inside and empowering himself in the process. When the Zyuohgers learn his secret and unintentionally reveal it to his servant Naria, who declares her sympathy and loyalty to him even if he's made of lowly Moebas, he kills her off, not wanting any compassion for his condition. A desire to prove himself as the ultimate being in the universe and a [[{{Sadist}} love of witnessing violence]] motivate Ginis in his conquest, and even his FreudianExcuse proves to be a mere contributor to his [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish ego]] and LackOfEmpathy.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: A lot of intriguing plotlines were left to wither away:
** The reason the history of Cetas was not recorded is not discovered (though it was mentioned that Tusk intends to find out why).
** Sela's desire to get a fair fight with Leo is never resolved (appearing only one time). Though one could say that it didn't really need a resolution as it is just a way to establish the two are VitriolicBestBuds.
*** This was finally resolved in the V-Cinema.
** Kubar's backstory could've been further developed, and as mentioned under EndingFatigue, Genis and Naria have similar problems.
** The dark side of Zyuland was mentioned minimally. This is especially egregious, since its [[Series/KamenRiderGhost sister show]] delved more into ''their'' parallel world's dark side. It would have been easy to put more focus on said dark side, even having one of the Zyumen share the role of final villain with Genis or even take over the role of BigBad much like how Bunglay became the villain for a while. [[spoiler:It'd also make the merging of the two worlds more thematic in that regard]].
** The prize the Deathgaliens were playing to win with their Blood Game is never revealed.
** With that said, any related loose threads to Zyuland will be handled by the V-Cinema, which outright states that the plot is all about [[spoiler: the sudden merging of the worlds.]]
** They also have the Gokaigers back for 2 episodes, but don't have them transform into the teams after them and before the Zyuohgers more than ''once'', and even then, it's only one per team and their respective counterparts on the teams.

* {{Wangst}}: How some people interpret Misao's bouts of depression. The fact that it's PlayedForLaughs doesn't help at all.

* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Misao. Either he's one of the best recent Sixth Rangers or an annoying Ranger who can't get over his depression and ApologisesALot. This is not helped when his depression is PlayedForLaughs. Some fans tend to view his bouts with depression as {{Wangst}}.
** Leo: A RatedMForManly badass Yellow Ranger or a sexist {{jerkass}} due to his chivalrous belief that the duty of a man is to protect girls and not fight them.
*** Did not help his case when he decided to free the Monster-grower, Naria, not because it's wrong to kill a helpless enemy, but because she was a woman.
** The Deathgaliens have divided fans with some finding them useless and poorly handled, while others like them.
* BrokenBase:
** The Mecha. Either they're a new and interesting concept that hasn't been seen before, or they're lame, childish, and further proof that sentai is out of ideas.
** Pretty much every single image has broken the base a lit bit more, especially the suits and the mecha.

** As noted on the ''Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger'' YMMV page, the Ninningers got a male Yellow Ranger after the producer for ''Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger'' said yellow was a color better suited for women. The fact we get another male Yellow right after Ninninger make the previous statement even more amusing.

* SpecialEffectsFailure: The finale shows [[spoiler: The Zyuohgers reuniting with their families]] and it uses some blatant [[ChromaKey green screen]] to recreate [[spoiler:their family without making more props, probably because they'd only have detailed masks for the main heroes]].

** They also have the Gokaigers back for 2 episodes, but don't have them transform into the teams after them and before the Zyuogers more than ''once'', and even then, it's only one per team and their respective counterparts on the teams.

** Genis is actually [[spoiler:A collection of [[{{Mooks}} Moebas]]]] and [[spoiler:has a massive InferioritySuperiorityComplex revealed as soon as his true nature is discovered.]]

If you pay attention you'll notice that the tiger and elephant's placement doesn't match their respective ranger's position, and [[http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/powerrangers/images/3/3c/Zyuohger_02.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160805192245 it isn't a one time thing.]]

* AntiClimaxBoss: While [[spoiler:Genis gave the Zyuogher a tough battle when he was normal size, when he enlarged himself, he went down within two minutes, possibly setting a record for fastest gigantic {{Final Battle}} in ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' history. Though it was justified as it was said that outside his base, he was considerably weaker, hence the reason he harnessed the world's power]].

** Genis has a [[WeaponOfMassDestruction WMD]] that he deliberately named "Gift", intended as a NonIndicativeName... unless you know of the other meaning of {{GIFT}} nowadays.

** MostWonderfulSound: As with most SuperSentai or ''Kamen Rider'' seasons, it can be this as well.

* SpoiledByTheMerchandise: The fact that [=TheWorld=] is eventually going to be freed of his brainwashing and join the Zyuohger is pretty much guaranteed, given that the promotion for the toys showed that Tousai Zyuoh will combine with Wild Zyuoh King for an even more powerful formation.
** As per every Super Sentai/Kamen Rider series, this counts for everything since the catalogs reveal the suits, mecha, etc. long before they appear in the show. Want to keep track of the series while watching and experiencing the suits and mecha for yourself? Yeah, good luck with that.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel[=/=]WinBackTheCrowd: As opposed to the more BrokenBase-ladden [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGoBusters prev]][[Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger ious]] [[Series/ResshaSentaiToQger sea]][[Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger sons]], Zyuohger is surprisingly a lot more warmly received, hitting in the right spots at the earlier episodes.

** ...but it's probably that he's more lax than stupid, he's doing this for fun so hey, if he loses a few pieces on the chess board, oh well.

** The dark side of Zyuland was mentioned minimally. This is especially egregious, since its [[Series/KamenRiderGhost sister show]] delved more into ''their'' parallel world's dark side. It would have been easy to put more focus on said dark side, even having one of the Zyumen share the role of final villain with Genis. [[spoiler:It'd also make the merging of the two worlds more thematic in that regard]].

** In a rare case of Franchise/PowerRangers doing it first, the series ends with [[spoiler:Zyumans and humans living together]] just after ''Series/PowerRangerssDinoCharge'' did the same thing with [[spoiler:humans and dinosaurs.]]

** With that said, any related loose threads to Zyuland will be handled by the V-Cinema, which outright states that the plot is all about the sudden merging of the worlds.

* EndingFatigue: Many fans have remarked that events that transpired in the show's last five or so episodes would have better served if they were included earlier or not at all because they slow the pace and [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot prevent the introduction of new ideas]], especially since many try to be a PlotTwist such as:

* CompleteMonster: While the Deathgaliens are already [[{{Sadist}} sadistic]] and [[OmnicidalManiac genocidal]] from the get-go, Genis is in a whole new level of [[AxCrazy insanity]]. Unlike the previous Sentai villains, who seek to annihilate Earth out of conquest, oppression, or personal ambition, Genis hosts the Blood Games [[ForTheEvulz for the sole purpose of keeping himself entertained]], including [[TheCaligula laughing off at the loss of his forces]] or [[BrainwashedAndCrazy turning Misao into his "Extra Player"]] in an attempt to kill the Zyuohgers. He's also not above [[BadBoss attacking or humiliating his own subordinates]], such as [[spoiler:[[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness turning Kubar into his bitch]] or [[KickTheDog angrily killing Naria for showing pity and compassion to him]] [[LackOfEmpathy without any remorse whatsoever]]]]. Uncaring, vicious, narcissistic, and unbelievably psychopathic, Genis is arguably one of the most evil Sentai villains of recent times that the franchise has to offer.

** Sela's desire to get a fair fight with Leo is never resolved (appearing only one time). Though one could say that it didn't really need a resolution as it is just a way to establish the two are VitrolicBestBuds.
