* HilariousInHindsight: One of the announcements made at Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference was ''VideoGame/{{Scalebound}}'', a now-cancelled game that was developed by Creator/PlatinumGames and featured a protagonist named Drew who was more or less an {{Expy}} of Nero. Fast-forward to E3 2018, and not only does ''Devil May Cry 5'' get announced at the same company's conference, but the game features Nero with a new appearance and hairstyle that resembles that of Drew.

** In ''Devil May Cry 4'', Dante calls Sanctus an "old fart" during the latter's orchestrated demon invasion to be Fortuna's "savior" and makes fun of his old age during their encounter. In ''[=DMC5=]'', he has aged radically and fans are making fun of it.
