* SugarWiki/DevelopmentHeaven: The Space Marines have an astounding amount of detail put into their faction, especially for a DLC race. Each chapter could very easily have simply been a selectable color scheme like every other race has, but they instead behave as separate subfactions, with unique portraits, ship heraldry and ''interface icons'' to give them each a distinct feel. All done in the name of nothing more than conveying the character of the chapters.
** Most striking is how each chapter receives a unique and fluff-appropriate setting for their shipyard menu. For instance, the Ultramarines are in orbit above Ultramar, the Dark Angels are in a parade formation with The Rock and the Imperial Fists are docked at the Phalanx.
** The cutscenes are mostly stills with limited animation, but by the Emperor are they beautiful.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The sacrifice of the ''Flame of Purity''. When Abaddon fires three of his Blackstone Fortresses at the primary star of the Schindelgheist system, Battlefleet Gothic is too far away from them to put a stop to it. Only one ship, the ship of Captain Abridal, is close enough, and he doesn't have near the firepower to destroy one of the Fortresses, let alone all three. What does Abridal do? Power his ship into the convergence of the beans and cause a critical backlash that renders the Fortresses inoperable, all while he screams his devotion to the Emperor and mankind:
-->'''Captain Abridal:''' "My ship is closest to the Blackstone Fortresses. All power to the void shields! I will attempt to put an end to this madness. By my faith, may the light of the Emperor spread to the farthest star. By my duty, the galaxy will belong to the righteous! By my action, the Imperial Navy will be honoured, and remembered upon Holy Terra! For the Emperor of mankind, and for the Battlefleet Gothic!"

Misuse Base Breaker renamed Base Breaking Character is for divisive characters within the fandom.

* BaseBreaker: The decision to make the Space Marine faction as a DLC rather than being part of the Imperium fleet roster has not sit well with some fans despite the fact that the Imperial Navy and the Space Marines are two separate fleets within the canon. However this was somewhat alleviated with the reveal the Space Marine faction will be available for free a few weeks after the game's release.

* ScrappyMechanic: Eldar holofields. Instead of using void shields to protect their ships from damage, Eldar have holofields that make their ships harder to hit by making it appear they aren't where they actually are. Best when the Eldar ship is moving (at any speed), the holofields ignore 80% of damage from shooting directed at the Eldar ship (and can be upgraded to 90%). The fields don't protect against bombers, assault boats, torpedoes, ramming, bomb skills, or lightning strikes, but the Eldar's dramatic maneuverability and speed edge means employing any of these (except bombers/assault boats) can be very difficult. Community opinion varies wildly: some feel holofields are totally broken and need to be reworked completely, others feel they're just fine, while others think they're okay but need some tweaking.
** And in the release patch, holofields were indeed slightly nerfed (along with some buffs, such as not vanishing completely when the ship's generator is destroyed, unlike every other race's shields). Debate continues as to whether this was too much, not enough, or just right.
