I don't see what a joke on the surname of the character has to do with his Memetic Badass status.

** Jamil is unfairly though jokingly called Jamil [=NEET=], though this was probably to do with his reduced appearances in Super Robot Wars games.

* CriticalBacklash: Having the infamy of being the only Gundam show after the original to be CutShort lead to a stigma of being particularly bad. The actual reasons for being canceled early stemmed from franchise burnout, being the seventh Gundam show in ten years and the fourth consecutive Gundam show as well (following Gundam Wing didn't help much either); the franchise since then has been more careful about spreading their content apart. Most fans upon revisiting this series find it respectable, just released at the wrong time.

Long cut by the thread.

* CompleteMonster: 'While After War Gundam X is one of the more lighthearted installments despite being set in a post-apocalyptic world, these two are shockingly vile:
** Mayor Nomoa Long, previously Professor Dorat, is a former scientist for the Space Revolutionary Army who took part in the destructive war, trying to execute "Operation Lilac", a plan, that would wipe out the entire population of Earth. He was dumped on Earth by his superiors following the devastating aftermath of the war and began plotting revenge against the United Nations Earth for destroying the colonies. The extremes he goes to in his pursuit of vengeance are downright depraved--his plan was to use the Fort Severn laboratories to create a strong enough Artificial Newtype in order to power up the Patulia, a nightmarish Mobile Armor that is literally PoweredByAForsakenChild: This horror needed a Newtype, who ended up being Artificial Newtype Carris Nautilus, to be used as its power source, and it would slowly and painfully erase the victim's mind, turning him or her into nothing more than one of the Patulia's own components. Willing to destroy all those who have wronged him somehow and all people on earth, Nomoa Long would sacrifice anyone to achieve his vengeance.
** Seidel Rasso is the leader of the Space Revolutionary Army. In the aftermath of a war that nearly wiped out humanity, Rasso became the leader of the twelve million people living on the colony of Cloud 9. Turning it into a PoliceState, Rasso suppressed all dissent, and preached a philosophy founded on the notion that since Newtypes could only be born in space, the colonists, rather than the people of Earth—called Oldtypes--should control the destiny of the human race. Knowing this to be false, Rasso also kept all information about Newtypes on Earth quiet, while gearing up for another war. Destroying the rebellious colony of Satelicon, including its largely civilian population, with photon torpedoes in order to consolidate his power, Rasso had his right-hand man, Nichola, arrested and summarily executed for suggesting peace talks with the New Earth Federation, and tried to use a KillSat to exterminate those humans remaining on Earth. When the supercomputer DOME revealed that Newtypes were really no different from the rest of humanity, Rasso refused to accept it, even as his ArchEnemy, and ardent Newtype hater, Fixx Bloodman of the NEF reconsidered his own position. Pushing his own lies to the end, Rasso's last act was to violate a ceasefire between himself and Bloodman, ranting about how Oldtypes like the NEF president were all scum who deserved to die.

Misuse of trope. Carris didn't suffer from breast cancer (which is what killed Yuko Mizutani). As stated in the Harsher In Hindsight main description, "Note that if the event in question is something inevitable, such as people dying, that's not necessarily this. We all have to go at some point. It would only be this trope if the death was somehow similar to how they died onscreen."

** Also, the hell Carris went through became a lot harsher in the wake of the death of Creator/YukoMizutani at 2016.
