* AnAesop:
** The series-wide moral is that HardWorkHardlyWorks is a load of garbage; while talent may outlast hard work in the short term, hard work will almost always pay off over time and depending solely on talent will likely backfire.
** One episode argues that support roles are not only necessary but they can also be outright indispensable, as demonstrated when Rod stays behind during a water mission and his keen eyes enable Penny to perform a bouncing-dive to rescue a falling polar bear cub, with Brody and Swift being able to make sure said cub's brother and her stuffed toy come out unharmed. Rod sighs that he wishes he could have helped but Bea and Speedy both point that he did and that the plan couldn't have been pulled off without his insight.

* RealityEnsues: Penny's beloved krill pops are considered something of a StockYuck by her teammates. Given that none of them would eat krill in real life (Swift and Rod would both lean towards seeds while Brody would prefer a nice fish dinner), it makes sense.
** In one episode, the cadets are told to practice driving their vehicles backwards. Brody insists that he doesn't need to practice and indeed neglects his practice in favor of surfing; when he's called on to drive backwards in an actual emergency, he fails. Penny on the other hand was diligent in her practice and performs perfectly. Brody sheepishly admits that he can't rely on talent, especially in high-tension situations.
