Sounds like this is the wrong type of "suck" for this trope.

* WeaponsThatSuck: Norvagen and Draigar weapons seem pretty primitve when compared to the ones being used by the Odaku army.

* ArtifactOfDoom: The Load Stone, a fragment of the Aurothon has incredible power over earth.
* BadassGrandpa: Dev had an ancestor with a penchant for going berserk, but it didn't end well.

Never Say Die is not an Omnipresent Trope, so aversions aren't listed.

* NeverSayDie: Averted times a plenty, as many characters speak about death and killing rather casually.

The movie starts with Scylla, high priestess and queen of the Odaku army, writing strange symbols on the surface of a mountain. Using these symbols and a magic fire, she summons Shadow Dragons Gryndel and Daakon, the spirits of two evil dragons who were exiled from their world by its king. She offers to open a portal to the Dragon Realm if they aid her in battle against the Norvagen and Draigar... and you can tell where this is going.

Has nothing to do with ''{{Music/DragonForce}}''.

!!''Dragons II: The Metal Ages'' contains examples of
* ActionGirl: Kyra once again, also Scylla.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: After narrowly escaping capture and still on the run from Scylla, Dev starts cracking up thinking about her calling Kyra "Princess Stork Legs".
* AffablyEvil: Scylla tries this when she talks to Kyra.
* AnimationBump: Hit and miss for this one. Facial animations got a tremendous improvement, but some animation of minor characters look worse than its predecessor.
* ArtifactOfDoom: The Load Stone, a fragment of the Aurothon has incredible power over earth.
* AwesomeYetPractical: The small stone Gorhagar carries around with him.
* BadassGrandpa: Dev had an ancestor with a penchant for going berserk, but it didn't end well.
* BattleCouple: Dev and Kyra... also Kyra and Gorhagar, much to Dev's dismay.
* TheBerserker: Dev, and his grandad.
* BerserkButton: Kyra can be soundly beaten in battle, feel betrayed, and almost betray her best friend, and still maintain a steady composure. but call her [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking "Princess Stork Legs"]] and she'll tear you a new one.
* BloodlessCarnage: Justified for a children's film.
* CharacterDevelopment: Dev and Kyra, and now Gorhagar. Originally Dev despised Gorhagar, most likely out of jealousy.
* ChekhovsGun: Light Dragons V.S. Shadow Dragons, what else is there to say?
* DeathFromAbove: The Shadow Dragons love to swoop down upon helpless foes.
* TheDragon: An actual dragon this time, Slann.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Shadow dragons are quite literally made entirely from shadows. Same goes for the light dragons.
* HeyItsThatVoice: [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen God]] [[EvilIsHammy save us]] [[BigBad from]] [[JenniferHale The Queen]].
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: During the siege of the Ramparts of Ryuzen, Dev devises a plan to use large panels of polished metal to deflect the Odaku weapons back to them.
* IndyPloy: After Scylla pushes Kyra's BerserkButton, she snatches Dev's sword and charges in alone for the kill only to get her and Dev captured once again.
--> '''Dev:''' [[SarcasmMode Gee, that worked!]]
--> '''Kyra:''' Just shut up!
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Dev is certainly this. He's even worse near the beginning.
* LargeHam: JenniferHale must've had a blast going all out to play a villain on this one.
* NeverSayDie: Averted times a plenty, as many characters speak about death and killing rather casually.
* NoFlowInCGI
* OhCrap: Everybody's horrified expression whenever Dev starts to go all berserker.
** When the shadow dragons first attack.
* TheOtherDarrin: MarkHildreth (Dev) is replaced by Creator/MichaelAdamthwaite here.
* SequelHook: [[spoiler: Slann reappears at the very end as a shadow dragon in the Dragon World.]]
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Averted, Kyra isn't the only lead female this time around.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Scylla
* WeaponsThatSuck: Norvagen and Draigar weapons seem pretty primitve when compared to the ones being used by the Odaku army.
