* ShallowParody: As with most Power Ranger parodies, the show exclusively parodies the first season of the show. It does at least parody it in a different way.

* DullSurprise: The Emo Rangers aren't the most expressive bunch.

* FlatCharacter: Even with their PersonalityPowers, none of the original Emo Rangers display much in the way of individual personality traits. [[SmugStraightEdge John]] and [[TheFashionista Fai]] in season 2 have more visible and consistent character traits.

* PersonalityPowers: The Emo Rangers' powers ostensibly come from their defining emo traits. [[InformedAbility In practice, though, it's pretty rare to see any of them actually display these qualities]].

* RandomEventsPlot: The series mostly holds plot secondary to humor, which causes some episodes, particularly in the original run, to be rather hard to follow.

* SixthRanger: Fai the Purple Fashion x Core Emo Ranger. She even gets her own robot. Later on, John the Green Chronic Stoner Emo Ranger gives up his drug habits and becomes the Blue Straight x Edge Emo Ranger.

delayed by over a year.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The Ranger helmets were nigh impossible to see out of, which is why there were so many unmorphed fights, and the morphed rangers are rarely on screen together.
** Co-Creator Chris Phillips had moved to America since filming Season 2, making it impossible to film anything other than a brief cameo with the original Rangers for the Anniversary Episode.

* InformedAttribute: The Rangers are defined by a single characteristic. And sometimes they barely get that. Most of it is because Captain Emohead told us in the pilot episode, or yell about it at one point.

* ItJustBugsMe: Why is Vicken's (Yellow Weeping Tear Ranger) Emozord a dragon? Originally Stef's was a bird, but that was remedied in Season 2 by changing it into a Lady Bug which is somewhat more fitting. But, what does a dragon have to do with emos?
** I see it as a reference to ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'' Season 3, and then ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai''. Basically, she first has a wolf, which is the Blue Ranger's zord in Season 3. In Samurai, the Blue Ranger has a Chinese Dragon (just like Vicken does). Now, while she's the Yellow Ranger, another notable thing is that the Chronic Stoner Ranger soon became the Straight Edge Ranger (who's a Samurai, basically). Put two and two together, and the reference is fairly obvious.
*** Season 2 came out one year before ''Power Rangers Samurai'', and filmed four years before that.

* SelfDeprecation: In the 2015 episode the main team of Emo Rangers are blasted into the 2025 by the villain, with Emo-5 enthusiastically looking forward to seeing their new adventures in ten years. It's probably a self-referencing joke about how long it takes for any new material to be released.
