WordOfGod has stated that the series will keep the {{Dramedy}} tone set by these arcs going forward.

* SurrealHumor: what we get here. a series telling the absurd yet {{slapstick}}y and [[WackierAndDenser wacky]](mis)adventures of [=SMG4=] Mario and his other friends, however some of its twisted and morbid sense of humor evantually falls into this territory.

** Game Reviewer in "Ssenmodnar 3". Apparently, he's the VideoGame/SuperMario64 version of the ''WebVideo/AngryVideoGameNerd''.

* AnimatedShockComedy: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zigzagged]]. The series does feature a lot of swearing immature sex jokes and (sometimes) occasional gore, but they are usually used to add to the show's stupid tone rather than to offend people.

** Bob from "Mario And... The Well" up until [[spoiler:his RedemptionQuest]] in "[=SMG4=] Christmas 2018: The Most Important Thing".

** The 2015 Christmas Special had [[spoiler:Enzo's face replaced with [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Burgerpants']] whenever he donned his SlasherSmile.]]

** A Twitter account under the name "No Context [=SMG4=]" run by Vicilis which criticizes/mocks the series has been the source of a few memes. Long [=SMG4=] would eventually appear on occasions and [=SMG4=] would later start mimicing a few of the other memes the No Context account made.

** In the video "The Spaghettipocalypse", Mario uses some of E. Gadd's "Magic Powder" to make a giant spaghetti monster, which then proceeds to attack the Mushroom Kingdom. Thankfully, the same "Magic Powder" is used on a cupcake to battle the pasta titan and save the day. [[spoiler: Not before Mario eats through the spaghetti monster though, with an accompanying lawnmower sound.]]

** In "Stupid Luigi's Mansion", King Boo becomes trapped in a painting [[spoiler:with a naked Mario, who chases him around while commenting on his arousal.]]

** [[spoiler:This would happen again in "War of the Fat Italians 2021", with the amazing rap battle that precedes… let’s just say… quite unfortunate events]].

* BackFromTheDead: This applied rather frequently with the use of 1-Up Mushrooms in the older videos thanks to RuleOfFunny, but you'd be hard pressed to find this occurring anywhere in the modern era. [[spoiler:Except for one unfavorable excepti[[ArcNumber 0]]n]].
* BadassInDistress: Meggy is kidnapped in the second half of the Anime Arc for her anime-producing ink. [[spoiler: [[TheRival Desti]] manages to break her out briefly, but they are recaptured.]]

** Throughout all of "MARIO'S CHALLENGE", there's a lot of suspense as to who will make it to the top and win the titular challenge, with focus being given to Luigi, Bowser and ''especially'' the [[TheBusCameBack returning fan favorite]] [[TheAce Meggy.]] The last shot of the final floor has the three, among a few others, racing to the elevator... [[spoiler:only for the victor to be revealed as [[DarkHorseVictory Shroomy]], a character who had never appeared before. Even Mario is taken aback and confused about the result.]]

** Downplayed in "Mario Runs Out of Toilet Paper", [[spoiler:where Papa John, the [=SMG4=] universe's Satan wanted to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the world]] ([[ForTheEvulz for no good reason]]). Although he himself was stopped and Mario managed to do what he always wanted to do since the episode's start: Taking a dump. However, the intensity blows up the planet anyway.]]

** Mario has formed one in the Mario Does Things series in the form of Among Us memes. It's gotten to the point where he went through [[ButtMonkey Frankie's]] [[DisproportionateRetribution computer and threatens to kill him if he makes another Among Us meme]]

** [[spoiler: In ''Mario and the Experiment'', [[TheRival Desti]] shows up to save Meggy. She claims it was to humiliate her for being rescued by her enemy, but they seem to start to like each other. Unfortunately, they are recaptured.]]

** The Anime Arc. [[spoiler:The Inkweaver is returned to Axol, all the Inklings are rescued, Francis meets his demise in his island's explosion, and the main cast make it out safely with Meggy thanks to [[ItMakesSenseInContext Ultra Instinct Shaggy.]] However, [[TheRival Desti]] [[KilledOffForReal is killed for her troubles]] (a funeral is even held for her) and [[HumanityEnsues Meggy is permanently transformed into a human]] [[HeroicSacrifice due to sacrificing what's left of her ink to save her friends]].]]

** PlayedForLaughs (mostly) with the Lawsuit Arc. [[spoiler:Lawyer Kong is defeated and surprisingly makes peace with the gang, [=SMG4=] and his [=OC's=] have legally proven their right to exist, and Shigeru Miyamoto gives Mario his blessing to stay with the gang. However, Miyamoto's condition for Mario getting to stay is for [=SMG4=], [=SMG3=], Bob and Fishy Boopkins to get new designs so they no longer look like Nintendo characters.]]
* BlatantLies: Mario claims to have never used Scatman John's music in his life. [[{{Irony}} Uses one just to invoke the HardWorkMontage trope]].
