[[WMG: Crocea Mors is still broken.]]
While Alyx's wish had been able to reverse Jaune's aging (albeit with a new white streak of hair), it may not have been able to repair his sword since it had already been broken when Jaune arrived in the Ever After. With the Curious Cat DeaderThanDead, someone new needs to fill in their purpose of helping Afterans who lose their way ascend. With Somewhat choosing to help people in any way they can rather than settling into one specific role, they will unintentionally take that missing position. Where the Cat helped ascension by giving those with broken hearts a piece of their own heart, Somewhat will help those who lose their way in a mundane fashion by helping to solve their problems as a hero, easing their burdens so they can find their way to ascend.

[[WMG:The whereabouts of Penny's dead body will be addressed in the future]]
In a previous WMG I did for this volume, I predicted that Penny's corpse would play a role in the volume, since it should have fallen into the Ever After with Jaune when Cinder undid Ambrosius's pathways. Ultimately, by the end of Volume 9, that did not happen--leaving the whereabouts of the corpse up in the air. Perhaps in the future, we'll finally learn where Penny's body landed in the Ever After, just to clear things up.

The Cat is cursed to be ConstantlyCurious, its biggest question is [[HaveYouSeenMyGod why the gods of the Ever After abandoned them]]. Having heard the whole story from RWBY, the Cat knows the Relic of Knowledge can tell it the answer to those questions. [[WMG:Jaune is half-right about Alyx and Lewis.]]
Only one of the siblings returned home, and the other was fed to the tree. The reality, however, is that the Curious Cat attempted to break the siblings down to get back to Remnant the same way the Cat did to Ruby. Right before the Cat could escape as one of them, Alyx pulled a HeroicSacrifice specifically to keep the Cat trapped and help Lewis get home unimpeded. Lewis then changed the story so Alyx would be remembered as a hero.

Ruby will be able to speak to apparitions of people like Pyrrha and Penny, as well as learn from Alyx or Lewis about why the latter was removed from their story. This may even allow her to speak to the Gods about both the Curious Cat and Salem, as the God of Creation was able to enter this realm to speak to Ozma's soul before reviving him.

In a similar vein, Ozma is continuously reborn, while Salem is unable to stay dead. [[WMG:If Penny does return to life, Jaune will redeem himself for his past failures from Volume 8's finale, at the cost of his life]]
The reasoning for Penny returning to life is mentioned in above theories, but if it does happen, this could give Jaune the opportunity to redeem himself for failing to heal Penny during Volume 8's climax, forcing him to MercyKill her. Perhaps Jaune will [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice himself]] to ensure that she isn't killed, taking a mortal wound meant for her. This could result in his death--which could remind Ruby that even with Penny alive, she still can't save everyone. Jaune's death could also be parallel to Pyrrha's death in Volume 3, similar to how Neo's fate being a mirror of Torchwick's fate from that same volume.

The last we saw of Penny in Volume 8 is her dead body laying on one of Ambrosius's pathways. Afterwards, she's never seen again--but when Cinder undid the pathways, it should seem logical that the corpse fell into the Ever After along with Jaune. However, as of the end of episode eight, Penny's body is still nowhere to be found in the Ever After. Perhaps they're saving the corpse for the finale of the volume for a specific reason, which could possibly even include bringing Penny back to life again through some unknown method.
