** Let's take that a step further; Nomura is obviously building up Sora's quest to bring back everyone he can, including Xion/Roxas/Naminé/Aqua/Ven/Terra/etc etc. Presumably this would involve getting them their own hearts/souls/bodies/whatever they're missing, possibly by invoking some use of Kingdom Hearts. But Ven and possibly Vanitas are in Sora's heart; suppose breaking the links between them results in Vanitas ''hijacking'' the combined darkness of Sora/Roxas/Xion and adding it to his own darkness? Now we have a setup where Sora's accidentally created a monster ''[[EldritchAbomination even worse than Xehanort]]'' and with Sora's heart completely purged of darkness, fighting him will inevitably result in the recreation of the X-blade.

* The Nobodies, while no longer possessing hearts, still have minds, and memories (complete or otherwise) of life before nobody-dom. So, on an intellectual level, they can recognize situations and circumstances that would call up given emotions, and access them through the memories they have. Because it is, in a way, a chance to relive the experience of having a heart, and feeling emotions, which they'd miss, having experienced it previously. It also lends credence to the above 'Nobodies are Sociopaths' theory.

** Alternatively, the Nobodies actually ''can'' feel emotions, but only in a roundabout way. They don't have the heart required for any ''new'' emotions, but their memories are still imbued with their original emotions. So (as an example), Axel really ''does'' feel like he has a heart when Roxas is around, because being around Roxas calls up his Other's memories (and, by proxy, the related emotions).
*** The Nobody = Sociopath parallel is an excellent one, considering what we see in-game. Nobodies are shown on occasion to display emotion in situations where doing so does not benefit them -- a good example is Zexion's reaction to the Riku Replica. He reacts with fear, and then is shown to be trying to regain his composure. Many of the Organization are shown to behave in irrational, even emotional manners even though we are told they have no emotions. Rather, it would seem that they are metaphysical sociopaths. They feel emotion, but it is likely very muted and without a heart, they are incapable of forming connections with others. All emotion is purely selfish, since they can clearly become angry or fearful....but ONLY for themselves. So they can fear for their own safety, but are incapable of concern for others. Friendship is a purely selfish thing, as Axel's behavior in 358/2 Days reveals. His friendship is poisonous, because it is about what he wants and what is best for him....it is difficult, if not impossible, to care about what others feel or want.

In the trailer to "birth by sleep", Ven asked Terra to "erase him".
Terra actually tried to seal Ven within 6-year old Riku's body (knowing he would one day be a keyblade-wielder), but something went wrong and he ended up within 5-year old Sora instead. (Explaining the "You are not who I have chosen!!" that Terra says in [=KH2=]:Final Mix+ )
When Sora's heart turned into a heartless, there was a "spare-heart" left, that his nobody got, wich gave him the EXACT SAME APPEARANCE as Ven. However, since it was actually "a sealed heart", he could not "use it" whenever he wanted and was still a nobody --- kind of. Sometimes, his (Ven's) emotions would break free and make him act like a normal teenager, much to the confusion of his "fellow-organization-members", but most of the time, he would just be like the others. This strange "feelings come -- feelings go" was the actual reason, he left the Organization, because he wanted to know, if it had something to do with Sora. At least until he entered the fake twilight town, where he could feel fairly free. (For some reason, this troper hasn't found out yet) Axel felt that his new buddy had something, the others were missing, so he stuck as close to him as possible, hoping to getting this "something" too, later realizing, it must have been a heart.
Since Roxas returned to Sora, Ven's heart did too, so we can expect Terra to show up once more, either having become insane and wanting to kill Sora, to free his friend, or as an ally, who comes out of nowhere and doesn't talk about his past. He would be over-protective for Sora, much to Riku's dismay, who would be thinking that this guy is up to something.

It addresses all the WMG and unexplained plot elements of the first few games, as well as Terra's noted similarity to Xehanort; Xenmas' addressing of Aqua's armor, and some of the cryptic comments he made are also explained by this. This could also explain why it went from MULTIPLE keyblades (Birth By Sleep) to one, much more powerful, form shifting Ascended/Sentient Weapon.

After all, Xehanort [[spoiler:is the merger of Master Xehanort's heart and Terra's body and heart, the latter of which is FightingFromTheInside.]] Throw in the LaserGuidedAmnesia [[spoiler:from Terra forcing Xehanort to lock away his heart]], and this theory really doesn't seem that farfetched. After all, [[spoiler:Xehanort has the hearts of Terra, MX, and (if Terra's cryptic words are anything to go by) Master Eraqus]], so who's to say that his already fragmented memories aren't having adverse and unexpected effects?

That's the real reason he wanted to merge with Kingdom Hearts. He wanted to use its power to restore his lost memories and be whole again.]]

Therefore, when added with the unscrambled anagram of Roxas's name with the 'x' removed, [[spoiler: [[ThemeNaming Sora]] ]] , and the 'Shio' part of the Japanese rendering of Xion, [[spoiler: [[ThemeNaming Tide]] ]] , we have another [[ThemeNaming Sea, Sky, Land]] [[PowerTrio Power Trio]]

They were Sora's memories of Donald and Goofy. At the beginning, they were separated when that Org XIII member created the deck of cards. However, the cards were made of Sora's memories, therefore, the real ones didn't rejoin him for the rest of the game. Where the Organization kept them, and what happened to them, is yet unknown.
* This is actually canon.
** So... how do all of the other characters interact with Donald and Goofy in Kingdom Hearts 2? Or are they the real ones by that point? Where ''did'' the Organization keep them, and did [=DiZ=] or Namine get them in time to put them in their own pods? Man this is confusing.
** The latest videos or 358/2 Days have shown Donald and Goofy fighting along side the Organization during the time Sora was in the pod. It stands to reason that they were separated from Sora in Castle Oblivion and weren't reunited with him until Kingdom Hearts 2.
*** Or... they could just be bonus characters for the non-story multiplayer. Sora's playable too, despite being in a pod for most of the game.
** But Donald and Goofy were in memory reconstruction pods beside Sora, at least when he entered and left his own, which hints that the only time they weren't with Sora during Chain of Memories was when he entered a cardworld unlocked by his memory. Either the white hall scenes between worlds saw them return from card state or the dialogues during these times reflected the memory loss Donald and Goofy experienced while apart from Sora. If neither of these options happened, placing the pair in pods would be unnecessary because they didn't actually lose their memories. It's possible the Organization interrupted this process and put the pair back when they were done with them, but that just raises the question as to why Sora, but not Donald and Goofy, needed the entire year to regain his memories.
