** Ironically, in the comics, Doom 2099 assumed that Miguel already ''had'' a spider-sense due to his experiences with Peter and the fact that the two have almost identical powersets even if the mechanics of how they worked happened to be different, while in the alternate 2099 ''Timestorm'' comic, Miguel actually ''did'' have a spider-sense, which makes it somewhat ironic that the game developers chose to use the original version of Miguel, as it would have removed the need for a handwave like having Madam Web give him one.

* DifficultySpike: The DS game gives you a few weak enemies and a faux-boss fight against Mysterio. Your next fight is against Boomerang, who is impervious to all direct damage and can only be injured if you grab his boomerang and hurl it back at him. Granted, it's easy once you know what you're doing, but his speed makes it a very difficult fight.

** The Carnage level extends this into a Melee a Quatre when the zombies began attacking the mini-Carnages.

** Then there's the fact that you can see {{Wolverine}} advertisements in 2099's stages.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Spider-Man gets Silver Sable off of Juggernaut's tail by tossing off the tracker planted on his head so he can have a chance to get a fragment stuck in Juggy's boot. He realizes his error ''way'' too late when he's now all alone with him.

* FreudianExcuse: The reason that the Noir bosses are villains was because they were all in a freak show.

* {{Irony}}: The black suit given to Ultimate Spidey is made to aid him in his quest. It instead further complicates things; his first fight is against Electro, an opponent whose powers are established to be the suit's weakness, Deadpool, whose MediumAwareness gives him a blatant advantage in countering the suit, and in Carnage's stage, the slayer robots will attack him due to the suit being a symbiotic organism.

** [[spoiler:Goblin]] beats the tar out of Noir several times throughout his stage, but never finishes the job. This gives Noir enough time to find out his weak point is his back.

The game has a follow-up of sorts, with ''VideoGame/SpiderManEdgeOfTime''. It is also noticeable for having been written by Dan Slott who would become a writer for Spider-Man comics a few months after the release of the game, and for being the inspiration for his comic book storyline ''ComicBook/SpiderVerse'', which would make the concept of alternate universe and other spider themed heroes an important part of the character's mythology due to introduction of several new characters. ''Spider-Verse'' would eventually inspire ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse'' while ''Film/SpiderManNoWayHome'' will also feature the multiverse.

The game has a follow-up of sorts, with ''VideoGame/SpiderManEdgeOfTime''.

** The first Ultimate level against Electro has a couple of these, one that you're well aware of and one that you probably won't. Not long into the level, you have to save civilians trapped in a tunnel flooding with electrocuted water. They are the only ones who can open a door to get Spidey to the next area. Unfortunately, there's nothing in the game to warn you that you don't have all the time in the world to save them all because [[RiseToTheChallenge the deadly water is rising]] and if the water level touches one of the guys you need to rescue, he dies and it's game over because you no longer have all the people you need to escape. And just before you reach the final battle against Electro, there are three different times you need to protect a civilian or two to help shut down malfunctioning generators and open the blast doors from waves of enemies. If they take too many hits, you'll have to restart back from a checkpoint.

** Near the end of the third Noir level against Goblin, the villain will hurl an entire Ferris wheel towards someone trapped in a bumper car. Spider-Man only has several seconds to get the trapped civilian out and save him. If he doesn't, it's game over and you'll have to try the rescue again.
