Eh, no: several Sonic Chronicles elements were used in at least one spinoff (a 2008 Mario & Sonic game), after the BioWare restructuring but before the lawsuits, indicating that it was primarily legalities; if this didn't happen, Sonic Chronicles could have easily been written off as preceding the next release, Sonic Unleashed, which starts at the end of an unseen adventure.


A sequel was announced, [[VaporWare but nothing's been heard since]]. The game took heavy inspiration from the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics Archie Comics canon]], [[ScrewedByTheLawyers causing a legal situation]] with writer Creator/KenPenders[[note]]who claimed to hold ownership over vast swaths of the Sonic multiverse.
