** Starting in ''Season of the Deep'', individual seasons were raised to cost 1200 Silver instead of 1000. Because of the way Silver is marketed (it's impossible to buy exactly 1200 Silver), these price hikes are ''even higher'' than advertised and punish players who don't want to interact with all four seasons in a given year. Of course, the cost efficiency of an annual pass or buying Silver for four seasons remains unaffected.

** Savathun, the Witch Queen of the Hive and sister to Oryx the Taken King, has been in the lore since the beginning but the Savathuns Song strike on Titan was the first instance suggesting she was turning her attention to the Sol System. The Forsaken and Shadowkeep expansions both implied her involvement peripherally as TheChessmaster, but Season of Arrivals specifically has her getting involved to scramble guardian interactions with the Black Fleet. Much of the seasonal content for year four after Beyond Light continually has her as a background figure, which lead into The Witch Queen where she takes center stage as the BigBad.
** After the Collapse there has always been a question if there was some figure to personify the Darkness, and the Black Fleet as they arrive. In confronting Savathun it is revealed she is in a protracted game against an entity known as The Witness, and after her defeat it is shown she was actually holding back the full strength of the Black Fleet. The Witness then steps up as the most powerful figure now known in the setting, leading to Lightfall and The Final Shape.

** A number of ornaments for both exotics and legendary weapons simply change the colors around rather than changing more fundamental aspects of the weapon. Ornaments in principle are about full alternative appearances, though vendor specific ornaments get by with adding specific decals for vanguard, gambit and crucible. A few exotic armor ornaments are similar.
** Once the seasonal model took hold and the amount of content being delivered to players increased significantly, a lot of weapons and armor were being repurposed to help fill the loot pool. This is partially because the weapon archetypes in Destiny are actually quite smaller than it seems, all pulse rifles within an archetype (aggressive, adaptive, rapid-fire, lightweight, etc) use the same base code but are paired with different traits and perks depending on the current gameplay meta, so they are functionally the same weapon but with a different skin on top. This served as a minor controversy with ''Lightfall'' weapons as most legendary weapons were heavily modified ''Shadowkeep'' designs, swapping out the occult totems for decals with pseudo TronLines (the lore literally connects them to the same design source), as players felt that being a main expansion it should be all new designs.

Guardians and allies of humanity are capable of using the Darkness for good just in the same way that the Warlords of the past and the Lucent Brood utilize the Light for either selfish or malevolent purposes, and the Darkness that humanity believes to have known is actually an entity known as The Witness simply using it for it's own purposes. The Darkness as a force might not even be inherently opposite to the Light either, with Osiris positing that it's a manifestation of the more abstract concepts of the universe such as emotion and thought compared to the more physical nature of the Light.]]
