Developed by Creator/IdeaFactory, Creator/CompileHeart, and Creator/RedEntertainment, this game was released in Japan on November 18, 2010 for the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3. Gameplay-wise, it looks very similar to ''VideoGame/CrossEdge'' except that it is now easier to play this game rather than a GuideDangIt battle system.

* CaptainErsatz: Jainus is pretty much Winfield 2.0 except that he's a normal human being who ages quite noticeably, and has a son named Jude. [[spoiler: And in the second generation finale, he gets cursed by an evil ring which makes him ageless like Winfield.]]

* CurbStompBattle: Oh [[VillainDecay Summerill]], you never stood a chance. [[spoiler: And then [[TookALevelInBadass he grinded again his levels]] and becomes the generation 3 final boss (by technicality, without the route split.)]]

* GameplayGuidedAmnesia: After you get tossed to who-knows-where and having an amnesia, the rest of the party give you a tutorial. [[spoiler: There's a good reason for that.]]

* GrandTheftMe: Happens ''thrice'' in this game. [[spoiler: First was Chaos's consciousness fully awakening inside Grey's body. If you get the True Ending, then Mobius suddenly possesses Chaos's body, and after a few minutes (read as one boss battle), the third one happens when Chaos gets his body back from Mobius, sporting new threads.]]

* KilledOffForReal: As always the protagonist and heroines of non-last generations falls victim to this trope. [[spoiler: But no one ever thought that Jainus is going to die too.]]

* LateArrivalSpoiler: It's hard to tell anyone else about this game without spoiling the opening where Weiss [[spoiler: kills Summerill and Chaos who are the FinalBoss and the TrueFinalBoss of the first game respectively]].

* LoveHurts: According to the prologue, the entire war started because of two people who love each other but could never be together. [[spoiler: This is a plot point too.]]

* NonActionGuy: Fastie/Faz [[spoiler: Subverted.]]

* RescueRomance: The final scene before you finally make Ignis and Cynthia be close to each other is [[spoiler: to rescue her from demons at Enhambre.]] The other men in the party even poke fun of him for that.
* TheReveal: Oh boy, [[spoiler: Weiss is not the one who killed Chaos, it's Faz]]. [[spoiler: And while we're at it, Weiss or to be more precisely the real Weiss is DeadAllAlong, all of the main characters are actually Chaos in different bodies.]]

* SelectiveObliviousness: The flashbacks have a lot of fun with this, like remember that blood on the screen? [[spoiler: It's not Chaos's, it's Weiss's blood.]]

* SpoilerOpening: During the opening, you see Weiss holding a sword with someone ominous at the background who is pretty much Chaos. At first since Weiss kills Chaos, you get to assume that it is a set up for an epic rivalry between Chaos and Weiss himself. [[spoiler: Then you get to TheReveal.]]
** Another nice piece of {{Foreshadowing}} would be the 2nd generation HotSpringsEpisode. You'd think this was just a little ShoutOut to Ladius having a deja vu that Winfield will get beaten up for peeping on the girls even though Ladius never saw it. In Schwarz's case however, [[spoiler: he ''has'' seen the outcome already because Weiss, Schwarz and Grey ''are Chaos''.]]

* ATasteOfPower: Weiss kills the WarmUpBoss at level 99 with his InfinityPlusOneSword. He loses his level, but strangely enough, his sword is still with him albeit [[GameplayAndStorySegregation in cutscenes only.]] [[spoiler: Then the game gives you the most awesome reason ever as to ''why.'']]

* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: Remember the gag trailer where they're showing off the exclusive [=CGs=] of each heroine, and that there's a brief shot of one hotspring? [[spoiler: You can only get that particular CG at the credits.]]
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler: You and your party members as soon as Chaos reappears out from Grey. At that point, the ones who are steering the plot are Mobius and Chaos and your party members are just dragged along for the ride.]]

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Exactly what happened to Chloe after [[spoiler: Jainus died]]? Or Cynthia after marrying Ignis? Both women (except Chloe for one scene only) never appeared to the party in the third generation.
* WhamEpisode: Happens ''successively'' with a one hour cutscene! [[note]]Unless you use the skip button by pressing square in cutscenes. Oh, we hope you have some back up party members, and hope you saved with a different file because you can't heal in between battles here nor change any equipment.[[/note]] Starting from [[spoiler: Jainus's HeroicSacrifice]] to [[spoiler: Fastie making a [[TheReveal HUGE Reveal]], and Sofia's boss fight just because she can't trust Chaos (pulling off a GrandTheftMe on Grey)]]
* XanatosSpeedChess: [[spoiler: The final moments of the game are pretty much Chaos and Mobius going back and forth with their plans with the party members dragged along for the ride.]]

* OffModel: In ''Luminous Prima III'', when Fiona opens her mouth in the beginning part of the song, her mouth seems to be wider than usual.

* BladeOnAStick: Victoria in the first generation, Yumil in the 2nd, and Liel in the third.

* KillEmAll: What happened with the Sera clan at the Zaint Luke continent. [[spoiler: This includes Real!Weiss aka the Weiss that you controlled in the prologue.]]
