* From that point on, ''Shin Mazinger'' became the default ''Mazinger'' representative of ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' series, only missing out on ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsUX UX]]'' (which uses the debuting ''Anime/Mazinkaiser SKL'' instead) and ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega X-Omega]]'' (which uses the classic ''Z'' and ''Great'', as well as the ''Anime/{{Mazinkaiser}}'' OVA). * WhatCouldHaveBeen: Energer Z is actually based on GoNagai's original concept sketches for Mazinger. * Oddly enough theres a Ken Ishikawa reference in ep 19, Ashura appears very simillar to Ryoma Nagare from ''GetterRobo Armaggedon'' (who was in turn based on Shinichi from Maju Sensen)

* Mazinger's SuperpoweredEvilSide is in turn is a ShoutOut to the CharliesAngels-esque Mazinger Angels manga [[spoiler: where Minerva X could transform into something similar to Sirene from {{Devilman}}]]
