This has never been proven. Masked Rider was canceled because there was nothing else to adapt after they ran out of RX footage and by the time Toei brought back the Rider franchise with Kuuga, Saban already sold Power Rangers to Disney.

* OldShame:
** Saban themselves seem to view the show as this - as noted above, it's not available on Netflix (save for the three-part crossover with Mighty Morphin). However, even before then, Saban has not referenced the show since - it was Retcon retconned to being a ShowWithinAShow in Series/PowerRangersTimeForce Though it was apparently explained to have been created by Dex himself some time after the actual events, and despite having the opportunity to resolve the plot with Series/PowerRangersSamuraiShinkenger, Samurais source material, had a crossover with Series/KamenRiderDecade, they chose not to.
** It's said that even Creator/ShotaroIshinomori himself did NOT take very kindly to what Saban had done with his creation and it was enough for him to refuse any further foreign adaptations of Kamen Rider until Dragon Knight came along in 2009, years after he passed away.

Still, there is Website/YouTube. This and Series/TheMysticKnightsOfTirNaNog are also the only live-action Saban shows currently unavailable on Netflix, as well as the only ones not to be released on DVD by Shout! Factory. Though thanks to all of Power Rangers being on Netflix, viewers can at least see the three-parter.

** Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue also has a monster named Cyclopter, who's an actual cyclops.

** The show also uses Film/KamenRiderZO and Film/KamenRiderJ as this for suited fights as well. The close-up shots feature Dex in the RX suit, but the faraway action shots depicts him wearing a completely different outfit.

* StuntDouble:
** The show uses Kotaro Minami as this, with Dex dressing up in the same white outfit to blend in with the StockFootage in some civilian fights. Most probably for budget reasons, since Saban was unable to obtain most of the monster costumes from Black RX. This explains why "Dex" is never seen in the same shot as the monster whenever he wears a different outfit other than Kotaro Minami's. At times, Kotaro's face could be seen during such fights. Keep in mind, Masked Rider is not the first show that uses this method of editing. Series/VRTroopers, and numerous Franchise/PowerRangers series have used footage of the Japanese actors as doubles for their respective American counterparts. However, the aforementioned budget forced production to use this method very often in Masked Rider.
