** It may have also contributed to Disney's decision to sell [=DIC=] Entertainment the following year. Although the real reason was that the company never wanted the studio to begin with (As it was included within the Capital Cities/ABC purchase in 1996) but it was also deemed to be "Non-Union" due to it's status as a Limited Partnership. However, Disney would retain the movie rights, releasing a DTV sequel in 2003, and a reboot is currently in the works at Disney.

Broderick still had successes (Election, You Can Count On Me, etc.) during this period. His star wasn't derailed (yet) by this film.

* StarDerailingRole: This was one of several film choices in the late 1990s that led to a slump in Creator/MatthewBroderick's career as a leading man. He saved a little face a couple years later on Broadway with ''Theatre/TheProducers'', but the musical's 2005 film adaptation re-derailed him.

** Alex Owens-Sarno (Cora Cartmell in ''Film/Titanic1997'') auditioned for Penny. She found the audition dispiriting and disheartening as the casting directors couldn't see her as anything other than "the ''Titanic'' girl" (something similar happened 14 years earlier when Creator/FredGwynne auditioned to play Henry on ''Series/PunkyBrewster'': the casting director in that cased called him [[Series/TheMunsters Herman Munster]] rather than his real name).

In the film, unlike in the series, it's an ''employee'' of Drysdale who's scheming to exploit the Clampetts, and Drysdale actually reacts in horror when he learns that one of his own employees is attempting to embezzle his most recent (and fairly unusual) clients.
