them.

The third universe is, as mentioned, a reboot of the first, under the same name. It's currently in progress. In this one, Realmless, or Ronin, fight off against the Metal Empire as they see past their excuses (usually the Realmpact) for conquest.

[[folder:Civil War]]

* {{Dark and Troubled Past}}: Virtually every main character.
* {{Dark is Evil}}: Imego ascends to a black-armored "Imperialdramon Kaiser Mode" which lacks the once-holy nature of the Paladin Mode.
* {{Doomed Hometown}}: Rai's village is this.
* {{Nightmare Fuel}}: The primordial terrors Gog and Magog (Apocalymon and Milleniummon, and the subsequent evolutions they undertake.
* {{Sequel Hook}}: [[spoiler: Samhain's appearance in Hyperion's epilogue scene]]. Hyperion's ending scene, complete with omninous 'the future was bright... for now' pretty much slapped 'there's a sequel' across the sky in big shiny letter. That, and Word of God had already pretty much confirmed it.
* {{The Starscream}}: Imego to the Three Great Dramon.
* {{Weapon of Choice}}: Dragon-slaying Ajax wields a vicious halberd in his base form. Upon ascension to his more knightly form he gains a lance and shield; his final angelic form gives him weapons made of solidified light.

[[folder:Dark Reign]]

* {{A God Am I}}: Dracul Samhain has a mighty big god complex...And eventually succeeds at supplanting Yggdrasil (God) and later goes on to kill her.
* {{Anyone Can Die}}: Even Yggdrasil/God dies
* {{Dark is Evil}}: The story is littered with this reference, from the evil "Black Hands" to the antagonistic Samhain the "Black King" to Hyperion's black-armored evil counterpart, to the title itself.
* {{Divine Date}}: Hyperion's relationship with Yggdrasil (not to mention Balion's flirting with her).
* {{Headbutting Heroes}}: Ajax and Osiris...nuff said.
* {{Hilarious In Hindsight}}: Dark Reign was, according to Word of God, named for the story-arc of the same name in Marvel Comics. Much of the plot bears similarity to the "Blackest Night" storyline the Green Lantern comics, but was not inspired plotline-wise due to the RPG starting prior to the comic arc. [[spoiler: The two ended up sharing several themes, however, such as a villain commanding the dead and serving Death incarnate (Samhain in the RPG, Black Hand in the comics), a previous major villain returning (Imego in the RPG, Black Hand in the comics), and an embodiment of Life serves as the power the heroes use to defeat the villain (Yggdrasil and her Crests in the RPG, The White Light entity in the comics). Furthermore, several of the "evolution invocations" borrow or are direct adaptations of the oaths of various lantern corps.]]
* {{Hot Blooded}}: Ajax embraces his savage nature, culminating in his forced evolution to Megidramon
* {{In Harmony With Nature}}: Caesar, as he becomes more and more capable of accessing his reality-bending and world-altering powers.
* {{Invocation}}: The Avengers and Black Hands both usually have Digivolution Chants.
* [[spoiler:{{Kill Em All}}]]: [[spoiler: It started to turn into this by the end. It's bad to be an NPC. And bad to be a PC for that matter, Karmas, Gatmuz, Theron, Tytania and Fabian died.]]
* {{Nightmare Fuel}}: GranDracmon, the Black Hands, and the Black Legion.
* {{One Winged Angel}}: Nidhogg and Abaddon digivolve into Dexmon and Arkadimon (super ultimate), respectively during the final battle.
* {{The Chains Of Commanding}}: Ajax refuses command of the re-assembled Avengers, passing leadership to Osiris, who later learns the burdens of leading
* {{Ted Baxter}}: Rai and Balion.
* {{Weapon of Choice}}: It's Digimon, so all different species have weapons that somewhat reflect their character.

[[folder:Unholy Crusade]]

* {{Ancestral Weapon}}: Thor recieves the White Sword from Odin some point prior to Unholy Crusade.
* {{Angels Devils and Squid}}
* {{Anyone Can Die}}
* {{A God Am I}}: Thor and Svarog. Subverted in that they actually are gods to begin with, so more a statement than a boast... even if they do get quite boast-y about it in this troper's opinion.
** And then [[spoiler: Tyr, Dunk and Azur, being descended from them]] are apparently partly gods too.
* {{Big Brother Instinct}}: Azur to Dunk, despite being the younger brother. Bedivere to Guinier, also despite being younger. Pyra to Maximus, for the female variation.
* {{Bolt of Divine Retribution}}: Thor's lightning.
* {{Broken Pedestal}}: The Royal Knights are this to Tyr.
* {{Cain and Abel}}: [[spoiler: Possibly. In the midst of Samael's ranting prior to his fight with Sha, he -implies- that he is the Digimon equivalent of the bibilical Cain 'the first to murder for murder's sake'. This is reinforced by his surname, and Michael explains some of Samael's past which adds to the allusion. If this is the case, and quite possibly anyway, Samael and his brother fit this trope. On a lesser level, Michael and Samael act like this on occasion, mostly when Samael pulls a Face Heel Turn and joins the Royal Knights.]]
* {{Calling the Old Man Out}}: Pyra does this to her father.
* {{Calling Your Attacks}}: It's Digimon, so naturally they do. There are also the Digivolution Chants, but see Invocation.
* {{Came Back Strong}}: [[spoiler: Svarog.]]
* {{Chronic Hero Syndrome}}: Tyr and Tiwaz both have this quite a bit. Bedivere, as well.
* {{Dark is Evil}}: Samael's darkness and demonic nature comes to the surface when he turns against the Peacemakers
* {{Dark is Not Evil}}:...and yet he returns to their side when he realizes that his darkness has only grown.
* {{Died in Your Arms Tonight}}: [[spoiler: Dunk dying in Azur's arms.]]
* {{Divine Parentage}}: [[spoiler:Tyr, Dunk and Azur, Thor and Svarog (literally).]]
* {{Doomed Hometown}}: Kheprius and [[spoiler: Barachiel's]] village was massacred by a group of MetalTyrannomon X.
* {{Eldritch Abomination}}: [[spoiler: Amatsu-Mikaboshi as UltimateKhaosmon.]]
* {{Go Out With a Smile}}: [[spoiler:Dunk before his death.]]
* {{Proud Warrior Race Guy}}: Thor and Svarog, as gods are almost defined by this. Many other gods also fit the bill.
* {{Hell Bent For Leather}}: Samael.
* {{Hero Antagonist}}: The Peacemakers. Lampshaded on one occasion by Caradoc when he comments on them being a 'bunch of misfits'.
* {{Heroic Lineage}}: [[spoiler:Tyr, Dunk and Azur.]]
* {{Hot Blooded}}: Svarog, also literally being on fire.
* {{Howl of Sorrow}}: Azur, when [[spoiler:Pyra was dying.]] And Dunk when Azur was wounded by Bors.
* {{Immortal Immaturity}}: Neither Thor nor Svarog act like you would expect 1000 and 2000 year old immortal gods to act. In fact, many gods possess this quality...others, however, do not.
* {{In Harmony With Nature}}: Thor repeatedly seeks enlightenment and answers by removing himself to isolated pockets in the wilderness or away from civilization.
* {{Infinity Plus One Sword}}: The Black Sword serves this for both Artorius and [[spoiler: Bedivere]]. To a degree the White Sword plus Initialize does this for Thor.
* {{Invocation}}: Several characters have digivolution chants as a means of centering their focus.
* {{Jerkass Gods}}:
* {{Killed off for Real}}: [[spoiler:Kame, Dunk, countless supporting characters...]]
* {{Knight Templar}}: The Royal Knights, [[spoiler: as revealed in Devil's Ascent, they were acting to stop Mephistopheles by eliminating 'the Cambion', a group of Tamers who serve as Mephistopheles' 'Digidestined/Chosen Children' in effect, though their role in the grand plan is currently unknown.]] More specifically, Constantine, who is a literal knight templar, to the point his species is SaintTemplarmon.
* {{Light is Not Good}}: The Royal Knights, champions of order and honor play the role of the antagonists driven mad by their quest.
* {{Loves the Sound of Screaming}}: Samael tortures some humans.
* {{Mistaken for Gay}}: Anybody who Valentine lays eyes on, pretty much... (Specifically, Azur, Dunk, Tyr, Gunnar, Sigurd, Gigas, Nocchi and Thor.)
* {{Nightmare Fuel}}: The Chaos Lords and Amatsu-Mikaboshi in general. Also, BlackImperialdramon Fighter Mode.
* {{One Winged Angel}}: Artorius when he gains the Black Sword, Amatsu-Mikaboshi as UltimateChaosmon.
* {{Pinocchio Nose}}: Nocchi's nose.
* {{Redemption Equals Death}}: [[spoiler: Galahad.]]
* {{Reincarnation}}: [[spoiler:Tiwaz is reincarnated through Tyr. Fenrir is reincarnated through Azur and Dunk.]] Vritra is a reincarnation of the god Vritra.
* {{Shout Out}}: Norse Mythology gets many, given that Thor is the Digimon equivalent of, well, Thor. Asgard appears several times, and Odin is frequently mentioned as a heroic figure in the Digital World backstory. Tyr and Tiwaz both derive their given names from Norse mythology. Tyr (whose namesake, in legend, has his right hand bitten off by the wolf Fenrir) also loses his hand in a beam blast caused by the Chaos Lord, Typhon. Arthurian Mythology also gets several, the Royal Knights are named for Arthurian characters, as are Bedivere, Caradoc and Guinier. Marvel Comics gets one in the form of Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg - and Word of God says some scenes involving Volstagg in particular are inspired by his scenes in the comics. In fact, there are probably so many this needs its own page, in this troper's opinion.
* {{Super Senses}}: Samael's sight and Galic's hearing
* {{The Chains Of Commanding}}: Bedivere struggles with this.
* {{Weapon of Choice}}: It's Digimon, so all different species have weapons that somewhat reflect their character.
* {{Well Done Son Guy}}: Thor, Tyr. Pyra counts, but is female. Caradoc used to be this.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Devil's Ascent]]

* {{Altum Videtur}}: Michael, whenever he tries (and fails) to slam an exorcism on Mephistopheles. Presumably.
* {{Ancestral Weapon}}: Azur inherits some sort of katana from Fenrir's dojo.
* {{As The Good Book Says}}: Mephistopheles quotes the appropriate Biblical text from the Book of Revelations whenever [[spoiler: he transforms someone into one of the Four Horsemen.]]
* {{Bodyguard Betrayal}}: [[spoiler:Johann Faust betrayed Elizabeth Balthory of the Chessmon Kingdom, working with Mephistopheles in exchange for Balthory being made his queen. It didn't end well for him...]]
* {{Chronic Hero Syndrome}}: Caradoc seems to have this. [[spoiler: he's trying to compensate for Bedivere. It just went bad.]]
* {{Complete Monster}}: Mephistopheles definitely fits the bill. When he's not massacreing a kingdom, he's raising the dead.
* {{Council of Angels}}: The Holy Host.
* {{Curb Stomp Battle}}: Pretty much all the encounters with the Horsemen so far.
* {{Demon Lords and Archdevils}}:
* {{Headbutting Heroes}}: Bedivere and Caradoc, with two different views of being a hero. Bedivere and Michael, over conflicting views of leadership.
* {{Horsemen of the Apocalypse}}: Mephistopheles has been summoning them. War and Conquest have appeared so far [[spoiler: as Svarog and Thor, respectively. More recently Mephistopheles seems to have chosen Duo to be Death, but whether he'll succeed or not is unclear.]]
* {{In Harmony With Nature}}: Thor removes himself from kingship to seek enlightenment in the wilderness.
* {{Invocation}}: Several characters have digivolution chants as a means of centering their focus.
* {{The Legions of Hell}}
* {{Magnificent Bastard}}: Mephistopheles.
* {{My God What Have I Done}}: Caradoc recently got one of these, (minus the My God) concerning [[spoiler: the destruction of the Chess Kingdom by Conquest/Thor]], which he sees as his fault. Had he not tried to be a hero, Mephistopheles wouldn't have had the chance to [[spoiler: corrupt Thor into Conquest, breaking a seal and resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocents.]]
* {{Oh Crap}}: All the damn time, but especially when Mephistopheles starts a chant with the words [[spoiler: 'I looked, and there before me was a white/red/black/pale horse!']]. Both for the characters and the people reading this. Fortunately, in a warped way, this can only really happen a maximum of two more times... hopefully. Also, any time Kamotz pulls one of his infamous plot twists in a way that benefits Mephistopheles. Which happens a lot.
* {{Super Senses}}: Samael's sight and Azur's hearing
* {{The Chains Of Commanding}}: Bedivere is reluctant to give up command to Michael, who is more capable of leading the Peacemakers against the threat of demons. Thor feels the weight of kingship as the new ruler of Asgard.
* {{The Reveal}}: So many it hurts. Many things in Unholy Crusade get revealed as things of significance. [[spoiler: Guinier and Kole's evolutions to Megidramon and Apocalymon, Lancelot's murder of Galahad, Sha and Samael's Demon Lord fight, the whole Crusade and many others are revealed as Seal-breaking events, tying into Mephistopheles' plan to break open the Inferno.]]
* {{Weapon of Choice}}: It's Digimon, so all different species have weapons that somewhat reflect their character.

[[folder: Strom (Short Story)]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Will They Thank You?]]
* ArcWords: The title. It's the question which has consumed Osiris and left him an empty wreck just living for the next battle.
* BloodKnight: Osiris. [[spoiler: At first]].
--> '''Ajax''': Until all you can look to is the next battle, that next war. That will be all that drives you forward. Only rage and hate and blood. Because anything else...anything more...simply hurts too much.
* {{Blood On These Hands}}: Much of Osiris's issues stem from his feelings of responsibility and guilt regarding the deaths of the Dark Reign which happened under his leadership.
* TheCameo: Maybe Strom and Nova. It's left unclear whether it actually was them.
* ContinuityNod: Several. Dracul Samhain is mentioned throughout, quotes from Ajax, Tytania, Isis, Ragna, Strom and Azazel show up too. The Dramon SuperSoldier project is mentioned as the source of one of the monsters Osiris fought and killed in the past.
* CoolSword: The Wrymflame.
* CueTheSun: In the ending, symbolizing Osiris letting go of his guilt and the past, and looking to the bright future.
* [[spoiler: {{Early Bird Cameo}}: That white-clad Digimon at the end who ultimately gives Osiris the lecture which breaks him out of his {{Heroic BSOD}}? That's Adirael Armaros, and he'll be in tSI, the continuation of the Civil War/Dark Reign universe.]]
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Even after his death, Dracul Samhain is known as the Black King by most, ala [[HarryPotter Lord Voldemort]]. Osiris is the only living character in-fic to use his true name.
* {{Fallen Hero}}: Osiris serves as this throughout, and the whole thing arguably is about him finding a way to get back up again.
* ImplacableMan: The Reapermon, which gives [[MontyPythonandtheHolyGrail the Black Knight]] a run for his money. It survives being ''beheaded''!
* IronicEcho: Between Dark Reign and the fic, Ajax's words take on different meanings to Osiris:
--> But the names...the names will be the worst. When all others praise and exalt those names, cheering them for all to hear, the names will cut into your soul. Their very utterance will bring about a rage you have never known. You will come to hate their names and hate the world. But more than that, you will come to hate yourself. Until all you can look to is the next battle, that next war. That will be all that drives you forward. Only rage and hate and blood. Because anything else...anything more...simply hurts too much.
* ItsAllMyFault: Osiris blames himself for the deaths in Dark Reign.
* PantheraAwesome: Osiris as BanchoLeomon.
* {{Precision F Strike}}: Mostly due to the fact when it was being written, Word of God states he realized he hadn't justified PG-13 and so pulled this trope to justify the rating.
* RedBaron: BAN-TYO for Osiris.
* RunningGag: While not exactly a gag, the fic continues storymasterb's trends of ending each installment of the CW-verse with silhouettes of the dead appearing on the sun.
* ShipTease: This is the fic which really started to lather on the hints about Osiris and Tytania.
* ShoutOut: [[spoiler: Adirael]] dresses like [[AssassinsCreed Ezio Auditore]] and drops both a line from the man himself, and one of the iconic lines from the series, 'nothing is true, everything is permitted'. In Italian, nonetheless!
* SinisterScythe: Wielded by the Reapermon in the opening fight.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: WordOfGod has said that he considered a different ending involving reincarnated versions of Ragna and Valra, but shot it down for the same reason which stopped him reviving Ragna ala two certain characters in Dark Reign, it would have cheapened his sacrifice and what it represented. He also felt it would raise a bit of FridgeLogic.
* WorthyOpponent: The Darkdramon SuperSoldier mentioned seemed to regard Osiris as this, and there are some indications Osiris felt the same.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Dracocide]]
* AlwaysMurder: The murders of innocent Dramon spark the plot.
* CasanovaWannabe: Balion. More of a true TheCasanova, as he usually does get the girl for a one night stand.
* CharacterDevelopment: For both Erebus and Balion.
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: Erebus and Balion [[spoiler: refusing to kill Elegast and defying his attempt to spark a war]].
* FantasticRacism: Prejudice against the Dramon due to the atrocities commited by TheEmpire still endures even after the end of Samhain's reign.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Balion, if not at the start, is very much so by the end.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler: Elegast]] kills the Dramon out of revenge for [[spoiler: his older brother Oberon's death in the Civil War]].
* SteppingOutForAQuickCupOfCoffee: Ajax uses this to slip Erebus a badge which will allow him to investigate the murders.
* [[spoiler: ThanatosGambit: Elegast tries to get Erebus and Balion to kill him, believing his death will spark a war, but it fails because the two refuse.]]

* {{One Winged Angel}}: Artorius when he gains the Black Sword, Amatsu-Mikaboshi as UltimateChaosmon.
* {{Pinocchio Nose}}: Nocchi's nose.
* {{Redemption Equals Death}}: [[spoiler: Galahad.]]
* {{Super Senses}}: Samael's sight and Galic's hearing

Both for the characters and the people reading this. Fortunately, in a warped way, this can only really happen a maximum of two more times... hopefully.
