* Both Freeman and his wife (better known as Long Tai-Yang and Hu Qi-Lin in the criminal underworld) found an invite to the Pantheon while on vacation in Japan. The pair accepted the invite, which meant that the 108 Dragons' influence would increase.
* Before becoming an assassin and later, the boss of The 108 Dragons, Freeman was originally known as Yoh Hinomura, a potter who had came across a roll of film which showed a hit being carried out by the 108 Dragons. When Yoh refused, the Dragons kidnapped him and transformed him into an assassin, one who sheds tears after he kills his targets. Yoh is given the codename '''Freeman''', as a reminder of the freedom which he will never have.
* For Emu Hino, she was a 29-year-old painter who came from a once-wealthy family. She was vacationing in Hong Kong when she witnessed Freeman assassinate several rival gang members, shedding tears over their bodies. Despite seeing this, [[LoveAtFirstSight Emu fell for Yoh hard]]. Knowing that she was to die at Freeman's hands, she asks not to die a virgin, a request that Freeman grants. Through a series of events following that event, which included a crooked cop and the Yakuza, she becomes Freeman's wife and the No.2 in the 108 Dragons.
* It's said that the reason why no woman could ever come to kill Freeman solely because he is in their eyes, the perfect man. Which leads to the alternative: Freeman screwing their brains out. Aside from Emu, Freeman does have a [[BalancedHarem small harem of ladies]] he has aside from Emu: Dark Eyes (formerly Bugnug), the boss of the Askari, Kimie Hanada, the widow of Ryuji 'The Blade' Hanada, formerly of the Hakushin Society, and Wong Shaku, a computer analyst working for the Pentagon, who is also a member of a prominent Chinese family. Safe to say that Freeman and da missus is well-connected. In a surprising - and touching - gesture, Yoh has also taken in the widow and son of Oshu Togoku and placed them under his protection.
* You know how a single line from ''The Rains of Castamere'' is more than enough to make anyone reconsider rebelling against Tywin Lannister? It's the same for Yoh in regards to his Dragon tattoos. One glimpse of them will be more than enough to make anyone reconsider going against him...most of the time.
* Yoh and Emu are easy to get along with and are quite pleasant. Just don't piss them off. They're ''really'' good at killing people. It's because of the circumstances which led to both of them being part of the 108 Dragons that most of the heroes have conflicting views for both of them. They are, however, in agreement that it was Emu's love for Freeman is what (sort of) redeems him.
* You think Freeman is deadly with those knives of his, his wife is ''even worse''. After learning swordplay from a master in Kowloon, the Muramasa - known to be a cursed sword - recognizes Emu as its master. Because of this, Emu is very deadly with her sword. Naiji Kumaga, the leader of the Kumagism Bear Cult, found out the hard way, as Emu took him down in two moves: the first costing Naiji [[AnArmAndALeg his hand]], while the second cost him [[OffWithHisHead his head]].
* Vega '''absolutely hates''' Freeman for the fact that he's a ChickMagnet. He believes that women should be swooning over him. So what if he decides to cut them up afterwards? He still believes that he is still better than Freeman.
* Freeman is at odds with Balalaika and Hotel Moscow, seeing as how he had wiped out their Japanese contacts with the Russian Connection (Tsunaike and Tanya). Mr. Chang, who serves as the couple's High Priest, is working overtime in trying to keep the peace between the 108 Dragons and Hotel Moscow. Revy, on the other hand, thinks that Yoh is hot.
* While Emu is already deadly with her Muramasa, she spends time at the House of Weapons' Bladed Weapons training hard to keep her skills in check. However, as she wields a Muramasa, she has drawn the attention of Kisuke Uzuki, who made it his quest to destroy every single demon blade. The only thing that's stopping him is the fact that he does not want to piss off Emu's hubby.
* Surprisingly, Emu is on friendly terms with both Vergil Sparda and Kenshi Takahashi, with Takeda correctly assuming that the reason why Emu is friends with them (sort of) is due to all three wielding either enchanted or cursed blades.
* Yoh is also friendly with the Chairman of Dojima, Kazuma Kiryu. As it turns out, Kazuma is a big fan of Yoh's pottery. He is also plenty impressed with the fact that Yoh - being Japanese in origin - is now the head of the Chinese Mafia.
* Dean Winchester is already a well-known ladies man. But seeing the ladies swoon over Yoh has led to asking him what's his secret. "No secret," Yoh replied.
* The couple also teaches various art classes at Elysium Academy part-time; Yoh teaches a pottery class while Emu teaches painting. Not only are they doing this for free, but they want to share their passion for the arts. There was talk that the couple was actively recruiting for the 108 Dragons, but that was proven to be false.

** With the exception of Varys (who already knew), Petyr Baelish, Robert Baratheon, his brother Renly, Tywin Lannister and his three children were shocked once the truth was known that Lyanna was the mother of Jon Snow, rather than a supposed hookup Ned had with some wench in the waning days of the Rebellion. What shocked them the most was that Ned Stark himself was privy to Jon's origins.
