** The interesting part of the Noodle Incident is that it's [[OCCIsSeriousBusiness one of the few things Calvin denies or seems ashamed of]].

* [[https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1987/12/12 One strip]] has Calvin and his mom coming home from the movies, asked by Calvin's dad how it was. Calvin somehow seems to have barely registered the movie and his mom furiously says they're getting a video player. That's all the hints there are to what happened.

** According to a later Christmas strip (Dec. 12, 1990), even SantaClaus doesn't know exactly what happened, or whether or not Calvin is innocent, despite having magical surveillance systems. He probably knows the broad outline, of course, since it's not that people don't know the details ''in-universe''. (This may be the actual TropeNamer since in this strip Hobbes calls it "the noodle incident.")

* Much like the "Noodle Incident", Bill Watterson has deliberately withheld any details about ''[[ShowWithinAShow Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie]]''. All we know about it, other than the title, is that it includes a "Happy Hamster Hop", which Calvin’s Dad despises just as much as the story itself.

* The arc wherein Calvin breaks his dad's binoculars. Calvin [[https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1988/05/17 claims]] that he dropped them as he was tossing them to himself as he was running down the sidewalk...which [[https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1988/05/20 Hobbes and the readers later see]] [[RuleOfFunny somehow]] resulted in the binoculars ''being reduced to a fine powder''. It's up to the reader's imagination just what exactly happened between Calvin initially dropping the binoculars and the start of the arc.
-->'''Calvin''': Don't sneeze.

Removing for same reason.

* After the first TimeTravel story arc, Hobbes is a little surprised by how unfazed Calvin's mom is to their many grand exploits. Calvin says he wouldn't necessarily say that for ''everything'', mentioning some previous incident where he kept frogs in the toilet. A similar event in a later Christmas story arc has Hobbes mentioning Calvin keeping an "incontinent toad" in Calvin's mom's sweater drawer.
* PlayedForLaughs in one of the Calvin's PushPolling campaigns with his dad, where Calvin mentions the past incidents of "[[{{Scandalgate}} Homeworkgate and Bedtimegate]]" that have tainted his dad's administrations. In this case, it's pretty obvious what exactly these so-called "scandals" were with little explanation required.
* [[https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1989/01/26 One strip]] has Calvin complaining about a school assignment where he's supposed to write about an adventure he's had. He thinks his life is boring and there's nothing he could possibly write about, but Hobbes brings up an incident where he backed the family car through the garage door (this strip precedes the story arc where the two accidentally pushed the car into a ditch).
-->'''Calvin:''' You call that an adventure? I didn't even get on the highway.

Deleting misuse; the point of Noodle Incident is that the incident lacks information and is NOT just a reference to something that happened offscreen. The two entries I deleted are just references to something that happened offscreen.

* In a story arc where Calvin and his parents visit the natural history museum, it's mentioned by Calvin's dad that they were [[PersonaNonGrata banned from the museum for a while]] because Calvin ran around biting people the last time they visited (presumably pretending to be a dinosaur).
* In one early strip, Calvin asks Hobbes about TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. Hobbes thinks maybe Calvin is talking about a [[WorldWarIII nuclear war]] (remember that the strip ran during the Cold War), but Calvin was really talking about what will happen if his mom catches him letting the air out of the car's tires again.

Grammar

* An pair of early strips that precede the first mention of the Noodle Incident is seen by many fans as the beginning and end of the actual incident: The first strip has Calvin putting on a space helmet saying "today I go for the gusto!" The next day's strip has Hobbes asking Calvin about his day at school, to which Calvin angrily says he doesn't want to talk about it. Hobbes asks if it was related to the sirens he heard, and Calvin shouts "I SAID I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!"

* In a Sunday strip where Calvin [[ItMakesSenseInContext strips down in an attempt to get airborne]], Calvin's parents get a call from their neighbour telling them a naked kid tied to a stuffed animal is running around in her backyard. Calvin's dad tells his wife that ''she'' can handle it this time, because he "got the little nudist out of her bird bath" last time. It's left up to the readers' imagination what Calvin was doing that time.
