An Aesop is now definition only

* AnAesop:
** Chapter 63 has one about being wary of news, when shady news of an Ostanian opera singer comes out in right-wing sponsored gossip magazines and with women who say they were paid to give certain statements, and the rebuttal hides the fact he ''did'' actually have several mistresses. Sometimes, magazines have their own political agendas and sources for such can be questionable.
** Chapter 91 makes the point that not everyone has the same emotional capacity to deal with trauma, and projecting the same standards onto everyone is both damaging and unfair.

* AssholeVictim: Quite a few:
** Since it wouldn't look very good to introduce our protagonist as shamelessly dumping a woman, reasons be damned, said woman is deliberately portrayed as the kind of person Twilight would never really care about- vain, shallow and the daughter of a criminal. For (probably unintentional) bonus points, her name is [[MeaningfulName Karen]].

** Even if they are expert intel gatherers, <WISE> are still only human and so make mistakes like everyone else. A good example is at the end of the Campbelldon Tennis arc, when it's revealed that [[spoiler: the dossier that they believed could "reignite the flames of war" turned out to be nothing more than a merchandise stash, and that the "war" was Erik Zacharis and his wife arguing over the former's hobby, making the mission AllForNothing.]] While the revelation is PlayedForLaughs, it nevertheless shows that a small amount of information can lead to a huge misunderstanding. This also happens to be the very reason Operation Strix is necessary in the first place i.e. they need to be sure if Donovan Desmond is a genuine threat to national security or if he's just full of hot air.

* ArmorIsUseless: A flashback {{avert|edTrope}}s this by showing how Twilight was once shot in the head and survived thanks to his helmet, though he still got injured and spent some time out of commission afterward. Also, while Yor still killed him pretty easily, all things considered, the most hurt she's ever gotten on a job is when she jammed her fingers fighting a man wearing a huge steel girdle.

This trope requires unexpected character deaths, not simply characters mentioning that everyone is mortal.

* AnyoneCanDie: Discussed by Chloe, Yuri's partner, in Mission 89. Still bitter over being beaten by Twilight, who got away with the captured Westalis intelligence, Yuri wants to prove he's strong enough to protect Ostania, and, more importantly, Yor, so [[LeeroyJenkins he rushes into the hideout of suspected militants]] and takes them out single-handedly while chanting Yor's name. When Chloe comes in, a knife wielding suspected rushes Yuri from behind, but is taken out by Chloe. When Chloe calls him out for being so careless that he could've been stabbed, Yuri scoffs at the idea that being stabbed could hurt him, and Chloe responds by slapping him, twice, and flat out telling him "You will die. People die. Even ''you'', Yuri."
