* AdaptationDeviation: The reason and way the Princess gets her Tire Demon armor is different in the manga and the anime. The anime has her needing something to cover herself in to endure the coldness of the Ice Area, with her seeing the Tire Demon and then attacking him with her giant pair of scissors. The manga, meanwhile, has the Princess already having the armor at this point, as she originally needed it to allow the Thunder Dragon to apply some electric shock to her stiff shoulders without killing her (especially considering how the original attempt resulted in her getting punished in the form of the Demon Cleric keeping her dead for a week the next time she dies), with her gaining it via an army of Teddy Demons attacking the Tire Demon.

** The ultimate origin of the Princess's signature which Sir Dawner uses to travel into her dreams also differs. In the anime, it's one of the autographs she hands out to the Teddy Demons, while in the manga it's one of the items from an area she designed at the demons' request. However, Sir Dawner gets his hands on it the same way in both of them, when the Demon King accidentally drops it in front of him.

* ShoutOut:
** The Princess' name is Aurora just like the titular character in Disney's ''WesternAnimation/SleepingBeauty''.
** The princess occasionally uses the battle HUD from ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}''.
** The people on the recurring infomercial resemble [[VideoGame/DragonQuestV Bianca and Nera]].
** The princess imagines seeing the main characters of ''Anime/MyNeighborTotoro'' jumping on her bed in chapter 5.
** In chapter 11/episode 3, after the princess asks him to touch her (as in the pressure points in the back that would make her fall asleep) in her room, the Demon Cleric, mistaking the request for [[PedophilePriest something else]], makes the ''Manga/AshitaNoJoe'' final page pose.
** Chapter 17/episode 4 has a one-and-a half page/minute long ''Manga/DetectiveConan'' recreation, with the princess showing up in a Demon King's Castle newspaper a la Shinichi Kudo and an explanation of how she wound up with the body of a child, as a just barely different version of Conan's {{Leitmotif}} plays in the background in the anime version.
** In chapter 19, the ghost shrouds [[Anime/AttackOnTitan receive a grim reminder...of why they live in constant fear of the princess]], complete with a giant princess peeking over the battlements.
** The Neo Gearbolter portion of chapter 24/episode 6 is one big nod to ''Franchise/NeonGenesisEvangelion'', with its creator, Professor Gearbolt, resembling Gendou Ikari (and even doing a number of his poses), the place where Neo Gearbolter was being kept looking a lot like the docking area of EVA-01, and the Magnespear eventually being used like the Spear of Longinus.
** One of the classes that the princess dresses up as in volume 3 is [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros a plumber which improves her jumping ability]]. Also, the aerial vehicle Cer, Ber, & Rus were given to use that the Princess swipes in episode 7 has a bit of a resemblance to the [[VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld Koopa Clown Car.]]
** The Demon Cleric visualises the princess and the cat demon doing the classic ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' FusionDance move to merge in chapter 31.
** In chapter 67/episode 10, as the Princess and the demons accompanying her (the Demon King, Demon Cleric and Great Red Syberian) are about to enter the human town, they make a pose (complete with sound effect kanji) similar to the one made by the protagonists of ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders]]'' as they embark on their quest to kill DIO.
** When the princess' dream is shown in chapter 77, it resembles [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros the Mushroom Kingdom]] complete with floating blocks and tall rounded mountains.
** The Princess in a stack of swim rings in chapter 102 reminds the demons of the Pop-Up Pirate game.
** Chapter 103 takes its title from ''Anime/{{Arrietty}}'', the scanlation going with its Disney name and calling it ''The Secret World of Suyarrietty'', and the official translation going with the direct translation of its Japanese name and calling it ''The Borrower Suyarrietty''.
** The masks the Princess makes for the cafe during the festival arc are copies of [[Franchise/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees's hockey mask]].
** One of the classes the Princess dresses up as in volume 10 is a Franchise/{{Ghost Buster|s}}.
** Chapter 149, which's about the Princess becoming an idol, is called ''[[Franchise/TheIdolmaster THE pRINCESS M@STER]]''.
** The entirety of Chapter 171 is an extended reference to ''Manga/HowHeavyAreTheDumbbellsYouLift'', down to the title being almost the same, just swapping "dumbbells" with "slimes".
** Chapter 199 is one big parody of the ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' franchise, with all the members of the Demon King's Castle getting addicted to a game called "Leave Forest".

* ButterflyOfDoom: The entire reason why the darker, more serious AlternateTimeline came to be was because the Princess stole the younger Demon King's futon. The reason is because it was the day of his coronation, and the futon was a supportive comfort gift by the Demon Cleric.
