    General
  • The Princess' name is Aurora just like the titular character in Disney's Sleeping Beauty.
  • The princess occasionally uses the battle HUD from Pokémon.
  • The people on the recurring infomercial resemble Bianca and Nera.

    Anime
  • In chapter 11/episode 3, after the princess asks him to touch her (as in the pressure points in the back that would make her fall asleep) in her room, the Demon Cleric, mistaking the request for something else, makes the Tomorrow's Joe final page pose.
  • Chapter 17/episode 4 has a one-and-a half page/minute long Case Closed recreation, with the princess showing up in a Demon King's Castle newspaper a la Shinichi Kudo and an explanation of how she wound up with the body of a child, as a just barely different version of Conan's Leitmotif plays in the background in the anime version.
  • The Neo Gearbolter portion of chapter 24/episode 6 is one big nod to Neon Genesis Evangelion, with its creator, Professor Gearbolt, resembling Gendou Ikari (and even doing a number of his poses), the place where Neo Gearbolter was being kept looking a lot like the docking area of EVA-01, and the Magnespear eventually being used like the Spear of Longinus.
  • The aerial vehicle Cer, Ber, & Rus were given to use that the Princess swipes in episode 7 has a bit of a resemblance to the Koopa Clown Car.
  • In chapter 67/episode 10, as the Princess and the demons accompanying her (the Demon King, Demon Cleric and Great Red Syberian) are about to enter the human town, they make a pose (complete with sound effect kanji) similar to the one made by the protagonists of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders as they embark on their quest to kill DIO.
  • The dub of episode 1 has the cleric saying the line "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
  • The Penguin King is given "dude" as a Verbal Tic in the dub, as if he's a Prinny.

    Manga
  • The princess imagines seeing the main characters of My Neighbor Totoro jumping on her bed in chapter 5.
  • In chapter 19, the ghost shrouds receive a grim reminder...of why they live in constant fear of the princess, complete with a giant princess peeking over the battlements.
  • One of the classes that the princess dresses up as in volume 3 is a plumber which improves her jumping ability.
  • The Demon Cleric visualises the princess and the cat demon doing the classic Dragon Ball Z Fusion Dance move to merge in chapter 31.
  • When the princess' dream is shown in chapter 77, it resembles the Mushroom Kingdom complete with floating blocks and tall rounded mountains.
  • The Princess in a stack of swim rings in chapter 102 reminds the demons of the Pop-Up Pirate game.
  • Chapter 103 takes its title from Arrietty, the scanlation going with its Disney name and calling it The Secret World of Suyarrietty, and the official translation going with the direct translation of its Japanese name and calling it The Borrower Suyarrietty.
  • The masks the Princess makes for the cafe during the festival arc are copies of Jason Voorhees's hockey mask.
  • One of the classes the Princess dresses up as in volume 10 is a Ghost Buster.
  • Chapter 149, which's about the Princess becoming an idol, is called THE pRINCESS M@STER.
  • The entirety of Chapter 171 is an extended reference to How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, down to the title being almost the same, just swapping "dumbbells" with "slimes".
  • Chapter 199 is one big parody of the Animal Crossing franchise, with all the members of the Demon King's Castle getting addicted to a game called "Leave Forest".
  • With the honorifics kept in place, the basic translation of the title of Chapter 214, in which the Princess turns into a zombie, is Zombie-chan's Saga.
  • The title of Chapter 217 is a reference to The Misfit of Demon King Academy, with the chapter itself revolving around the Demon King (and Princess) visiting the Royal Demon Academy, and part of it involves said Demon King heavily stressing out the teacher (in this case Cursed Musician) by messing around.
  • Chapter 218 has the Demon King imagining the Academy's dormitories are allocated by a Sorting Hat.
  • Chapter 219 has the Castle's residents coincidentally re-enact Liberty Leading the People, with the Princess as Liberty.
    • The chapter also has nods to the Sleepy Princess anime: the title is "But Tonikaku Kawaii is Getting Shown", a reference to the other Shonen Sunday manga that had an anime adaptation premiere in Fall 2020, and one of the demons mentions a show that is obviously a reference to Osomatsu-san, the show that aired before Sleepy Princess.
  • In chapter 220, when the Princess wonders if Harpy's been chosen to become a member of an elite force, she wonders if she's going to be used for scouting, and imagines her a la the opening to the first Lupin III anime.
  • At the end of chapter 233, when Syalis launches herself off a cliff while doing some back hip circles, the "To Be Continued" arrow from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure shows up in the final panel.
  • Continuing with the Sleeping Beauty homage, one story arc involves a spinning wheel that causes a being who gets pricked by its spindle to fall into a deep sleep, with Poseidon falling victim to it. It turns out the spinning wheel inspired their version of Sleeping Beauty.
  • In Chapter 265, a flashback to Demon Cleric dealing with a curse shows him mounted on a pole on the front of a car in the same fashion Max was in Mad Max: Fury Road. To drive home the references, he's even wearing the same mask Max has.
  • In Chapter 271, the Princess manages to predict what Poseidon is going to say next a la Joseph Joestar.
  • In Chapter 283, the Demon King gets a "YOU DIED" caption after the Princess hits him with a Harsh Word Impact.
  • In Chapter 291, the Demon Cleric does his version of Shinji's "Why did you kill him?" chair pose from episode 25 of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
  • Chapter 349 has one part where the Princess makes herself up to resemble Frieren.
  • In Chapter 356, during a mission to save the hot springs run by Quilladillo's family (and prevent him from having an arranged marriage that would result in him leaving the Demon Castle), a fleet of mecha that resembles the Princess is referred to as "The 100 Hostages Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love Quilly".
  • In Chapter 357 involves a set of seven Spheres owned by Zetsuran's family, that when gathered together, will summon the family patriarch (who is a dragon), and allow them to make requests of him. Said spheres are called the "Dragun Balls." The reference is so blatant that the Princess wonders if they might get in trouble for it.
  • Chapter 360 is about the Princess and Hypnos trying to find somewhere to watch a "Rinsendo Direct" stream that's announcing a sequel to the Animal Crossing analogue mentioned above.
