* BoobsOfSteel: Jinbee's mother was a warrior woman strong enough to curb-stomp all of Edo sword schools and match Jinbee's father, a MasterSwordsman himself, blow for blow. She also possessed the largest pair of breasts of the entire cast.

* BladeOnAStick:
** Sougan of the Mushikari is a WarriorMonk who fights wih a special naginata/trident hybrid which can release an explosion when the handle is twisted in a certain way. After his first defeat he reappears with a pair of short spears called "Gokuen Soso" ({{Hellfire}} Twin Spears) so that he can wield two of them at once.
** Chiyomaru of the Eight Provinces District of the Mushibugyou is a tiny, serious girl wielding a humongous ''juumonji yari'' (a ''yari'' with twin side blades forming the shape of a cross). She's an extremely cold and disciplined warrior.
** As his historical counterpart, [[spoiler: Gouto Matabei]] wields a massive spear and employs it with supernatural skill. Since it's scaled up to his size, it is also huge and able to lop off whole buildings without breaking a sweat. Ironically, he wields the legendary Nihongo, a lance which was historically used by the Toyotomi traitor Fukushima Masanori.

* TheThingThatGoesDoink: Tenma has one in his flashback to when he received Tamekichi and Matsukichi.

* GagBoobs: Oharu, and they'll make sure you won't [[MaleGaze forget.]]

* DangerouslyShortSkirt: Mashiro of the Mushikari wears only the upper part of her kimono, which covers her privates like a skirt but doesn't cover beyon a standard miniskirt, leaving her legs in full view. It doesn't help that she fights with kicks and, by omake, [[GoingCommando doesn't wear any panties]].

''Mushibugyō'' (ムシブギョー?) is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiroshi Fukuda, which was serialized in ''Magazine/ShonenSunday Super'' from 2009 to 2010. Fukuda later made ''Jōjū Senjin!! Mushibugyō'', a retelling of the original series, which ran in ''Weekly Shonen Sunday'' from 2011 to 2017. An anime television series adaptation premiered as a part of the Spring2013Anime season. It is being simulcasted with English subtitles by Crunchyroll.

Only when the castle defense's is about to be breached Hinahime, the commander of the department, shows up to assist the heroes.]]

* PhisicalGod: [[spoiler: The Eteranl Bug is pretty much one: while all his followers still have powers rooted in the insect world, he can use his wings to deliver massive attacks across space, generate infinite bugs from his mouth and revive people at will.]]

* FullFrontalAssault: Mushikari member Mitsuki: aside from a collar and legwear, her entire torso is exposed, save for two small chest plates hiding her nipples (though, in most panels, they just seem to push her bust up even further).

* GunKata: The yoriki of the Sanctuary Patrol of the Mushinugyou has a refined, deadly fighting style resembling a dance and involving a sharp steel folding fan and a huge, beautifully-engraved rifle called "Murakumo."

* DangerouslyShortSkirt: Masaki of the Mushikari wears only the upper part of her kimono, which covers her privates like a skirt but doesn't cover beyon a standard miniskirt, leaving her legs in full view. * BigCreepyCrawlies: The bugs that the Mushibugyou face are huge, ranging from man-sized to a fortress-class monstrosity.

* {{BFS}}: Mugai wields a massive zanbato/halberd called "Jingaito". It can also grow in size when using its powers to replicate the abilities of absorbed insects.

** They grow less sour after spending time with [[MagneticHero Jinbee]].

* MsFanservice: Oharu is almost constantly under the MaleGaze.

* AbsurdCuttingPower: Koikawa can perfectly CleanCut anything with a weapon even if that weapon happens to be a saw. According to what he says to Jinbee, his secret is imagining really hard that the thing he's about to cut is made of konjac jelly and forget that stone or steel is supposed to be hard.

* BigBad: [[spoiler: The Eternal Bug, the true source of all the bugs and the bugmen, as well as the "worst half" of the Insect Magistrate herself.]] Since the anime ended differently, he's AdaptedOut.

* ChildMage: Tenma, a child prodigy Onmyoji who fights by manipulating giant paper dolls.

* EvilRedhead: [[spoiler:Sanada Yukimura]]

* WhamShot: [[spoiler: The giant wasp larvae slain by Jinbe to save Oharu and the kids taken away suddenly molts to release a Bugmen, after they thought that only the Sanada Ten Great Insects fit the bill. It soon reveals that ''all'' the bugs are becoming bugmen!]]

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Hibachi with a little assistance from Jinbei manage to defeat the leader of the Crucifix Insects said to be the strongest of their number... except all they did was beat his 'shadow' and in doing so forced him to retreat where he stumbles upon the Insect Magistrate and Mugai's group that were supposed to be hidden until she at least got her powers.]]
