** Although this could perhaps be fridge brilliance as he lists impossible romances that failed, followed by the most impossible romance of all which succeeded =... that's always what I thought.

* BishieSparkle: Any scene with Cornelius or the other fairies; it's somewhat justified in that their wings are really sparkly.

* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Fairy wings are ''very'' sprakly.

* FairyCompanion: The Fairy Prince, literally. Jacquimo the Swallow, to some degree (although he's much larger than Thumbelina).

* FurryConfusion: The Fairy Prince's pet bumblebee the only realistically drawn animal in the entire movie. According to some people, it's the fairy equivalent of a motorcycle, but it's still noticeable, as there is a cartoony bee in the Jitterbugs gang. As a whole, the Jitterbugs look like they've wandered off the set of a different movie entirely.

* NonMammalMammaries: Mrs. Toad... good God Mrs. Toad...

* CloudCuckoolander: Ms. Field Mouse is a bit... off her rocker. If you wear a pincushion as a dress while singing about Romeo and Juliet's death, you are a Cuckoolander.

It sticks to the basic story fairly closely. A woman pines for a child and, magically, she is gifted with a little girl no bigger than her thumb. Thumbelina, as she is promptly named, is a happy person but secretly pines to meet someone tiny like herself. Over the course of the film, she gets into several misadventures with various characters who want to marry her (come to think of it, this is a pretty odd story). Eventually she finds the enchanted Fairy Prince of her dreams. They get married and Thumbelina transforms into a Fairy and good times are had by all.

Unfortunately, it's worth noting that the DonBluth page went on for several weeks before anyone remembered this movie. Uh-oh...

** Thumbelina doesn't look like a redhead to me, though.

* IDyeGrass: The fairies are responsible for changing the seasons.

* NonMammalMammaries: Mrs. Toad...[[BuxomIsBetter good God Mrs. Toad]]...

* AllAnimationIsDisney: When test audiences first saw this movie with the WarnerBros. logo, the reviews were mediocre at best. When aired with the {{Disney}} logo, reviews on average were much higher.

* FridgeLogic: Why doesn't Thumbelina just use the bird to get home? How come Mrs. Toad sings about why marriage sucks to get Thumbelina to marry her son? Why did Mrs. Toad leave her behind on the lilypad?
** Jacquimo was too concerned with reuniting Thumbelina and Cornelius (via locating the Vale of the Fairies) to actually just take her home. She does ask him to do so several times, but he ignores her.
*** But then why doesn't he reunite them by flying Thumbelina to Cornelius, or flying her home and then flying him there? True, he wasn't sure where Cornelius was, but he could have let her ride while searching or dropped her off at home, then searched for him, then brought him to her home upon finding him.
*** Sadly, the writers were kind of locked-in to the original story and never fully explained why didn't she get off the lilypad by herself.
** Mrs. Toad seemed to be trying to convince Thumbelina that marrying for love would suck, but that the marriage she had planned out (which seemed more like a convenient way to please her son and get a good singer into their family performing group) was awesome. One can only hope that Mrs. Toad was figuring that Thumbelina would forgo child with her toad son in favor of focusing on their career.
