Due to the recognized potential for TropeDecay, anything listed on this index must be beyond something that would merely end up on other possible indices (e.g. InternetBackdraft, WeaponsAndWieldingTropes, TheJerkIndex, MilitaryAndWarfareTropes) by meeting these three standards:

* 1) It or its presence (or some variant on it) has repeatedly caused actual fights in RealLife as well as the internet and in fiction, and done so repeatedly - it isn't just something used in an already-started fight. For example, chairs may be commonly used in the BarBrawl but they don't start the BarBrawl, nor do they make the situation conducive to it.
* 2) There's pretty much no way its appearance will end other than some form of conflict. Which makes these tropes quite fertile ground for PlayingWithATrope, and at the same time a simple way of throwing the ConflictBall for writers who want a ClicheStorm or who think StatusQuoIsGod.
* 3) Not entirely necessary but in combination with the other two: its use/invocation/discussion/existence is banned to keep the peace / prevent TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. Good examples here are the BanOnPolitics (because political discussions = fights) and No First Use in regard to nuclear weapons (because using a nuclear weapon for pretty much any reason = starting a war)
