* The iPod-esque turrets have a place in the hearts of Portal fans for their funny chatter, rivalling the CompanionCube for the role of SeriesMascot. As Easter Eggs in Portal 2, you can find them doing silly things in side rooms.

* While [=GLaDOS=] is arguably the single most iconic foe in Portal, the robotic gun turrets come in a close second. Some will happily greet the player before attempting to gun her down, others seem to think they're vending machines, and all will react comically as you demolish them in new and interesting ways.

Most Mooks exist solely to die en masse at the hero's hands. Some become famous in the process.

Mascot Mooks are foes that, for one reason or another, are just as iconic as any of the non-disposable members of the cast. Maybe you want to hug them instead of stomp them. Maybe they're just awesome (or silly) enough to make you smile every time they show up on screen. process, and the non-disposable members of the cast. Maybe you want to hug them instead of stomp them. Maybe they're just awesome (or silly) enough to make you smile every time they show up on screen. A Mascot Mook result is a MascotMook.

This enemy
is a spotlight stealer, with stealer compared to the rest of a game's bestiary, combining the ubiquity of the Mook and with the iconic appeal of the Mascot.

Mascot, becoming their very own symbol or icon of the series in the process.

What makes a MascotMook so memorable? Perhaps there's a Kawaisa certain charm about this creature's design, or maybe its FunSize, which prompts a smile across the player's face every time one of these pops up -- despite how often they will suddenly pop up or how many of them the player will slaughter throughout the game.

Whatever the case, these Mooks have somehow become just as vital to the series as a whole as your core party members are to the narrative of each separate installment. Fans silently expect this Mook to appear somewhere in each and every installment (often in multiple versions), simply because it always has, and no new game would be fit for release without its appearance.

Sometimes the popularity of the MascotMook can result in spin-off titles dedicated entirely to them.
