* Probably the ur-example, although admittedly also a parody, is Morumo Shirase from the manga ''Morumo 1/10''. She eventually does receive a treatment to make her human height, but it does nothing to reduce her enormous weight and thus she still crushes the concrete of sidewalks with every step.

* Shinobu Kandadori, the best friend of Nanako from ''Anime/CrayonShinChan'', is basically a (gigantic) male wrestler in a SailorFuku with pigtails, but she has also a very feminine personality. Even her name is a pun on [[MeaningfulName Shinobu Kandori]], a famous Japanese (female) ex-wrestler and politician.
* ''Manga/LovelyComplex'' is built on the premise as the very tall lead girl, Risa Koizumi (5'9" and still growing) compounds the issue by getting a crush on a particularly short boy, Atsushi Otani (5'2").
* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'':
** A large part of Makoto Kino's (Sailor Jupiter; Lita in the English and Latin American dubs of the '90s anime) character, especially early on, is the various misunderstandings and insecurities caused by her appearance: when she transfers to Juuban Municipal Junior High, her height (168cm) means that [[TransferStudentUniforms there are no uniforms her size]]. Add to that she is the spitting image of a delinquent (curly hair, her old uniform's long skirt and shoe style), is rumored to have been transferred for fighting at her previous school, and that she ''is'' genuinely very strong and badass (even before getting her powers), leads to her not being very popular at first. Part of her CharacterDevelopment is to feel secure about her looks and feminine attributes, along with her more masculine ones (Depending on the adaptation, she ranges from TomboyWithAGirlyStreak to GirlyBruiser).
** From later in the series, ButchLesbian Haruka is quite tall, but she doesn't care (nor does anyone else).
** Taiki is also quite tall, but seeing how she's an alien posing as a student and has been traveling the galaxy for who-knows-how-long, might not quite count.

* Likewise, Maggie Mui (185cm, exactly 6'1") from ''Anime/ReadOrDie'' is shy and bookish most of the time.
* Ran Asakawa of ''Manga/StrawberryShakeSweet'' (176cm): although her unusual height is rarely addressed in the manga, she ''is'' remarkably shy and self-conscious. This may be the reason for her boyish, androgynous looks.
* While she's not much taller than the others, this is a source of complex for Mio in ''Manga/KOn'' She starts sulking when she so much as find out that her hands are slightly bigger than Yui's (who herself has bigger hands than the rest of their bandmates).

* Mao Daidouji from ''Anime/PrincessNine'' has it doubly bad, being both taller than normal (175cm, almost 5'9") and heavier than normal. When she first appeared, they played a bit of music that sounded like the ''Manga/GiantRobo'' theme. It helps that both works shared the same composer, Masamichi Amano, and orchestra.
** Seira Morimura (171cm, a little over 5'7") also qualifies for this trope, while Izumi (5'6") and Yuki (5'5") come close. Given the nature of the series, you would expect for everyone to be of about average height or taller, and all of them are. Mao's bulk is what sets her apart more than her height does.
* ''LightNovel/MariaWatchesOverUs'' has a few.
** Rei Hasekura (''Rosa Foetida en Bouton'') is a Huge Schoolgirl, a {{Bifauxnen}}, and a KendoTeamCaptain, although she prefers domestic interests.
** Kanako Hosokawa is way taller than Rei still, towering almost two heads above most of the rest of the cast. It is compensated by her gentle demeanor and there is no sign that she or others are bothered by her height. For quite a while she even was a serious candidate for becoming Yumi's petite soeur. This was played for humor in the [[BonusMaterial outtakes]] when Kanako was made into a towering giant (pictured above).
* A {{filler}} episode in ''Manga/AngelicLayer'' had Misaki, the small heroine that fears looking weak or losing because of her tiny size, battle a Huge Schoolgirl whose complex led her to a feverish determination to defeat the tiny, cute one.
* Aoyama Motoko in ''Manga/LoveHina'', who, at 174 centimeters (around 5'8.5), is taller than the main male protagonist, Keitaro (it's even {{lampshade|Hanging}}d in a chapter of the manga). Exacerbated with being somewhat cold and serious.
* Parodied in Mari from ''Anime/ProjectAKo''. Not only is Mari huge for a high school girl (to say the least), she was intentionally designed as a parody of the male hero Ken, of ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'', and physically she is a virtual clone of him, if he had breasts and wore a fuku. She even shares some of his signature martial arts moves. The overall comedic effect is compounded by Mari's high-pitched, girlish speaking voice, contrasted by the extremely masculine grunts and various non-speech noises she makes.
* Minami Iwasaki of ''Manga/LuckyStar'', is not particularly tall (163cm), but she was especially notable in the company of her pint-sized friend Yutaka (138cm), to the point that [[YuriFan Hiyori]] finds the OneHeadTaller situation too pretty to avoid. Minami often subverts the trope by quietly expressing her wish to have ''larger'' breasts - [[ACupAngst she is completely flat-chested, and finds this deeply depressing]].
* ''Manga/{{Negima}}'':
** Possibly subverted in Kaede (181cm), who despite being the tallest in the class has no complex about nor is it the size issue commented on. This might be explained either because of the high oddity level of the class in general, or it simply being overshadowed by her charmpoint role as a {{ninja}}.
** Similarly, her classmates Mana, [[RobotGirl Chachamaru]], and Akira are pretty tall as well.
** It is eventually shown that she and Mana (184 cm), with both of them also fairly mature-looking for their age, are unable to get their student discounts at the local movie theater, as the ticket saleslady refuses to believe that they are only 14. The "bigness" of several classmates is also pointed out by various characters throughout the series. "What the hell?! Are they really 14-year-old students?" Much of that is due to, er, overdevelopment in the balcony department, if you will.)
** Of course, if Chachamaru ever gets uncomfortable with her size, she can just get a new body! Current models include the standard, one with artificial skin and, for some reason, a {{loli|conAndShotacon}}form. Makes some sort of sense when you consider it is the one that looks closest to her [[YoungerThanTheyLook actual age]].
*** In this series, ''everybody's'' first instinct for disguising themselves is an age change. Chachamaru got the loliform with an upgrade package designed by analyzing the events of the Festival arc, in which she needed a disguise and had to settle for a bulky concealing costume. New ear decorations (everybody's ''second'' instinct for disguise) came included.
** Humorously enough, in the series, at least with Negi's students, age seems to be inversely proportional to physical development. The more loli looking characters, such as Fumika and Evangeline are actually the older ones in the class and the more developed ones like Chizuru and Kaede and the younger ones in the class.
*** This is true, except for between 2 to 4 outliers.
*** Another exception may be Mana, who has made statements implying she's just as old as she looks before declaring she has lied. At least part of one of these statements has been confirmed as true.
*** In Eva's case she is actually physically younger than the rest of the class (she was turned into a vampire as a 10 year old) despite being roughly 600 years older than most of the class.
* Hawatari Yuiko in ''Manga/{{Loveless}}'', leading Yayoi to consider Ritsuka too short to date her.

* The protagonist of the manga ''A Six Feet Girl'' (guess how tall she is).
* Averted in ''Manga/{{Sketchbook}}'', where Juju is more than one head taller than most other female cast members. She is still quite the elegant type though, with her drawing skills, guitar playing and singing and you don't get the idea that she or others pay any special attention to her height.
* Ryoko Mitsurugi, the titular character of the manga/anime ''Manga/RealBoutHighSchool'', is much admired for her strength and samurai ideals (not to mention ogled by the guys because she's quite the looker) but has a complex about her height - especially since she's (marginally) taller than her crush, who happens to be older than her.
* She's older and out of school, but Milly Thompson from ''Manga/TriGun'' otherwise fits in quite well, as she tends to stand taller than most of the men and carries a slight [[TheDitz ditziness]] to her.

Otome calls her a "giant woman", and Suzune loves to poke the top of Otome's head, where she claims there's a pressure point to make her shorter. On another note, Zula's not exactly small, either.
* An elementary school version: the {{Bokukko}} Naomi Okuyama from ''Anime/OjamajoDoremi''.
* In ''Manga/IkkiTousen'', there's Kyoushou's Kyocho Chuukou (Xu Chu). An extremely tall girl (184cm), in the manga she was [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer bullied by the boys from the judo club]], who refused to believe that she was a woman. [[spoiler: At some point, they corner Chuukou and rip her clothes in the dojo, to see if she's a man or not. When caught by Sousou (Cao Cao), he released his SuperpoweredEvilSide to protect Chuukou, believing they wanted to rape her; she had to use a CooldownHug on him, but it was too late for the boys.]]
* Minato from ''Manga/{{Hyakko}}'' is the well-endowed and leggy type, causing her classmate Nene to gush over her--much to her dismay, since she is also painfully shy.
* Remmy from ''VisualNovel/ToHeart''. Justified by being half-American.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** Another "out of school but still fitting" character is Lieutenant Isane Koutetsu. She's the tallest female Shinigami at 187 cm tall, which makes her only an inch (2.54cm) shorter than tall male characters like Renji (taller than Renji's captain Byakuya!). A profile in one of the databooks states that when she reached 170 cm, she started to eat rice porridge to keep her from growing, since it has no nutrients. That didn't work out so well. She also has quite an ample bust, and her size makes her a bit embarrassed in the omakes.
** Rangiku Matsumoto is also quite tall. Her official profile states that she's 172 cm, but it's never brought up as an issue with her. Quite the contrary, really; Matsumoto intentionally wears clothes that show off her rather impressive bust line, and the first outfit we see her wearing when she comes to the world of the living is a ''school uniform'' that is about three sizes too small, several layers too tight, the shirt unbuttoned even ''farther'' than her robes go and a dangerously short skirt. And of course, there's that necklace she wears with the [[MaleGaze chain that vanishes into her cleavage]]. It's pretty safe to say Rangiku has ''[[ShamelessFanserviceGirl no]]'' [[ShamelessFanserviceGirl self-image issues at all]]. [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation Or so many she is trying to compensate.]]

* Funabashi from ''Manga/OchaNigosu'' is a rare male version, being an intimidatingly large and scary-looking boy who is a member of his school's tea ceremony club and longs to live "a heartwarming life."
* Seiichirou Kitano in ''Manga/AngelDensetsu'' is another male version, though in his case he's irrepressibly kind and considerate and utterly unaware of his bad reputation.

* Tsukishima Botan from ''Manga/{{Change 123}}'' is a huge schoolgirl. She dislikes it, wanting to be 'normal' like the other girls in her class, and can be mistaken for a boy at first glance.

* The Grand Prize goes to Mana from ''Manga/SuperDreadnoughtGirl4946''. On her first day of school, she becomes defensive when called ''50m'' tall (she's [[TitleDrop 49m, 46cm]] thankyouvery''much'').
* Ishidou Natsuo from ''Manga/{{Teppu}}'' is another embodiment of this trope. First year in high school, she is 182cm tall, as it is often commented on. However, the real trouble is her natural talent in sports, which brings people to hate her. Arguably, this is the cause of her being a {{Jerkass}}. Or maybe is the opposite? To make things worse, she is approached by a [[GenkiGirl cheerful]] girl to join her MMA club.
* ''Anime/HaloLegends'': [[spoiler: In the episode ''The Babysitter'', Spartan Cal-141 could qualify as this. Due to her augmentations, she towers over the (all male) members of the squad of [[SpaceMarine ODST]]s she accompanies. This gets to the point that they do not even realize that she is female until her SamusIsAGirl moment]].
* Haruka Shiraishi from ''[[Manga/ChuBra Chu-Bra!!]]'' is more developed than every other student at their school. She's only in middle school, so this really makes her stand out.
* Namiko in ''Manga/GAGeijutsukaArtDesignClass'' is larger than her classmates. She seldom raises the insecurity thing, but Nodamiki often reminded us that, in fact, she does, and that is ''why'' Namiko [[NonuniformUniform always wears a big belt and never wears the school blazer to school]].
* From ''Manga/{{WORKING}}'', Souta's youngest sister, Nazuna, is really tall for a twelve year-old. She stands shoulder-to-shoulder with her brother, who is a sophomore in high school, and is noticeably taller than many of his female colleagues at work.
* Taken to its logical extreme when a giant washes ashore in ''Manga/FrankenFran''. The owners of the property dress her in a giant SailorFuku to attract tourists. A literally huge schoolgirl. There was also a chapter about a giant, morbidly obese schoolgirl who asked Fran to help her losing weight.

* Mizuki of ''Manga/AiOreLoveMe'', as well as her female bandmates, is a tall girl with a boyish look. Ironically, Akira, their male bandmate and Mizuki's boyfriend, is small and was (at least once) described as the only one in the band to actually ''look'' like a girl.

* Sotomura from ''Manga/WaratteSotomuraSan''. This is one of the reasons she's often mistaken for a delinquent.
* {{Deconstructed|trope}} by Detective Tsukino of ''Manga/KotouraSan''. She was one while going through high school, which made her an easy target for bullying. [[spoiler:This is a reason why she has a SplitPersonality, her evil personality was in charge or revenge and was also the perp of the physical assaults on school girls in the latter third of the anime.]]
* In ''Anime/GirlsUndPanzer'', Nonna is the tallest of the high school cast, at 172 centimeters tall. As such, her friend and commander, the diminutive [[TinyTyrannicalGirl Katyusha]] likes riding on her shoulders to appear taller than everyone else. In the ''Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu'' side manga, after Katyusha remarks that she's still above most Pravda students, [[TemptingFate Nonna comments that those taller than her are rare]]. At this point, a hulking female student who is even taller than Nonna arrives, and Katyusha immediately asks the former to join the tank-driving team.

* Rina Takamiya from ''Manga/KaitouSaintTail'' is visibly taller than all but one of her classmates (two after Asuka jr. hit his growth spurt). Differently from most examples, not only she has an ''enormous'' self-esteem (to the point that one of the rare moments where she didn't appear completely in control and self-assured was when she noticed her crush Asuka jr. had a growth spurt ''and was now taller''), but actually manages to sell her height as a ''charm point''.
* Given that she's a ''centaur'', Himeno from ''Manga/ACentaursLife'' is bigger than all the girls in her class, and even most of the guys. There's also Sasasul, a snake-girl whose long neck makes her even taller than Hime.

Bonus points for the fact she's also half-a-head taller than her favorite male upperclassman Masayuki Hori, and sometimes teases him about it. She's one of the few examples of this trope who actively ''revels'' in her height rather than feeling self-conscious for it.
* Sahara from ''Manga/ASilentVoice'' is shown to have grown quite tall when Shouya meets her again as a high schooler. [[spoiler:Her height leads to her getting into [[FashionModel modeling]]]].

* Haru Sakamoto of ''Manga/HanaTheFoxGirl'' is tall enough that fellow high schooler Fu is barely up to her chest. Part of the reason for her height is that she's really a snake in human form, a long body type goes with the territory.
* Fujiyama Maki, the main character of ''Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki'' is 181cm tall (5ft 11in). She's in her second year of middle school and still growing. She's the school volleyball team's star player and she's dating Kanba-kun who at 5ft 3in is a lot shorter than she is. Unusually for manga storylines where the standout character is spurned or even bullied she's got lots of friends at school although she's easily embarrassed about her height and build (she's not the willowy supermodel type).

* Komori Shuri, the titular character from ''Manga/KomorisanCantDecline'' is much taller than the other girls, especially her friends (6 feet at age 14). Very strong too. [[BoobsOfSteel And busty.]]
* Maekawa from ''LightNovel/GroundControlToPsychoelectricGirl'' is 179 centimeters at age 16 so people often mistake her for repeating a grade. She's taller than Makoto. Despite being so tall she's very physically fragile. Just holding her hands above her head for several seconds causes her to feel faint.
* Suna's older sister Ai from ''Manga/MyLoveStory'' was lanky and skinny in elementary school. This caused her to be bullied. She fell for Takeo when he told her she looked like a tall flower. Ai acknowledges their three year age gap makes it hard for them to be together (when she began high school he was beginning junior high) and thus never confesses. She planned to confess when he entered college but Takeo got a girlfriend before that occurred.
* ''Manga/BokuNoFutatsuNoTsubasa'' has Makoto. In addition to being an F-cup she's between 175cm and 180cm tall. Her height is commented on a few times, mostly by people asking if she's grown. [[spoiler:Justified in that Makato is also a half-alien hermaphrodite, so normal doesn't really apply to her.]]
* Creo Brand from ''{{Manga/Freezing}}''. She stand at 173cm or about 5' 8", taller than virtually all other Pandora, since most Pandora stand anywhere between 5' 4" and 5' 6". Creo as a freshman was quite petite, until pairing up with Itsuki (which included a serious, no-junk-food diet) she now towers over a lot of the other Pandora at Genetics, and now has a fuller and more mature body. Trish [=McKenzie=] is another example, also standing at 5' 8".
* Hotaru from ''Manga/NonNonBiyori'' is 164cm tall despite being a ''fifth-grader'' (ie ''10 years old''), making her taller than her two high school student friends (with one of them being only 140cm tall).

Despite being one of the plainest characters on this list, she's more self-assured than many of the other examples, being a brusque and calculating character who leverages her height to loom intimidatingly when necessary. When Mizusaki notes her long legs, she simply states that it's because she gets a lot of sleep.

While she originally joined to be the CuteSportsClubManager to get close to Akira Nishida, it quickly becomes apparent that she has the talent to be a player. Anita Kabashima, who is a first year, is also pretty tall herself (her main edge as a catcher), though in her case it might be partly justified for [[ButNotTooForeign being part-Brazilian]].

* Veronica Weasley from ''Fanfic/WeasleyGirl'' is a {{Gender Flip}}ped [[Literature/HarryPotter Ron Weasley]], and has the same tall, lanky build as her male canon counterpart and is described by the narrative as looking "awkward, almost comical" as a result. Draco Malfoy calls her "Beanstalk" on a few occasions.
* ''Fanfic/{{Intercom}}'' uses this with Riley by way of relative size. Riley's emotions are a variety of sizes within Riley's mind. However, when Riley actually enters her mind through lucid dreaming, they're surprised to discover she's actually half a head taller than the tallest of them (making her about 4'7", or just shy of 140cm, but seeming huge in comparison).

* In the sidestories of ''Fanfic/PokemonResetBloodlines'' featuring the Melemele Trainer School, it's stated that Lillie was the tallest girl in her class at the start of the school year (her mom Lusamine is a StatuesqueStunner, so she takes after her on that) and it's implied that she's still growing. She later gets outgrown by Velvet Lono, though.

* Netflix's''Film/TallGirl'' is all about a high school girl who is bullied for her above-average height
* In ''[[WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse]]'', after Miles embarrasses himself at school with his PowerIncontinence, he's briefly distracted from an anxious freak-out when he passes an extremely tall female student in the halls and his train of thought derails to note her height. She doesn't appear again.

* Enid Nightshade in ''Literature/TheWorstWitch'' series was described as very large and shy, though really she had a secret evil (ish) spark that she used her size and relative newness to the school to disguise, much to Worst Witch Mildred's chagrin. In the live action series, however, Enid was played be a very small (and more visibly spunky) actress.

* Literature/{{Discworld}}'s Lady Sybil Vimes seems to have been this when she was younger. There's also Ludmilla Cake, Mrs. Evadne Cake's daughter. Mrs. Cake is short, plump, has enough force of personality to loom over absolutely ''anyone'', regardless of height, and is the terror of most of Ankh-Morpork's officials. Ludmilla, on the other hand, is big, tall, and strong, and has spent her whole life trying desperately to shrink inside herself and ''not'' loom. This may be an understandable by-product of living with Mrs. Cake, but it's quite hard to do when you're also a werewolf.

* One Franchise/DoctorWhoExpandedUniverse ''Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures'' novel gives Fitz a GirlOfTheWeek who's at least 6'6" (198cm) and a little self-conscious about it. Having never met anyone outside of her household before, as she's [[UglyCute deformed]] and lives in a {{dystopia}} where that's a big problem, she's a bit less embarrassed than you'd expect considering the fact she's also a ShrinkingViolet. Being so incredibly sheltered also causes her to call Fitz "beautiful" when she first sees him; he's not all that terribly attractive and so turns bright red. Now there's a cute image -- TheIngenue, towering over the ChivalrousPervert, makes him go beet-red. Right?

* Daja in the ''Literature/CircleOfMagic'' books is much taller than her foster siblings, who include a boy, for most of their growing up, not to mention extremely muscular because she's a blacksmith.
* Eri in Kuroda Kenji's ''Persona Detective'' is tall (and skinny and flat-chested), self-conscious, and perpetually boyfriendless. She concludes that looking at someone from below just isn't an attractive angle -- after all, no matter how nicely she may dress or do her hair, people can still see up her nose.
* Laura Danker in ''Literature/AreYouThereGodItsMeMargaret'' is both taller than the boys in her class and bustier than the other girls, and is used to impart AnAesop about how girls who develop early are often presumed to be "slutty" based solely on appearance.
* Ursula Riggs of ''Big Mouth & Ugly Girl''. She's an athlete, playing on her school's basketball team. She used to swim as well, until she heard someone make a "thunder thighs" comment and became uncomfortable about wearing a bathing suit.
* ''Literature/TheDunwichHorror'': Thanks to the AppliedPhlebotinum of [[spoiler:[[HalfHumanHybrid "mixed" lineage]]]], Wilbur Whateley grows to [[ExaggeratedTrope almost seven feet tall at the age of twelve]], and is nine feet tall by the time he finally dies. [[note]](This also happens to be [[BizarreAlienBiology the least strange thing about his corpse]].)[[/note]] He's [[FriendlessBackground not a very popular child]], either ([[TheAntichrist and for good reason]]), but [[MisanthropeSupreme he doesn't really care]].
* In ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'', all the Carpenter women tend towards the "[[StatuesqueStunner tall]], [[AmazonianBeauty fit]] and gorgeous", but the award in this genre goes to Amanda, who is 16 and already taller than her big sister Molly, who in turn nudges 6 feet barefoot. For bonus points, Amanda attends a Catholic school with all that entails in the way of uniform.
* The main character of the YA novel ''Beanpole'', by Barbara Park. The premise of the novel is she makes three wishes on her thirteenth birthday, and [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor all three come true]] in unexpected ways. * In ''Literature/TheHelp'', Skeeter Phelan has always been very tall (the reason for her nick-name "Skeeter" is that her older brother declared "that's not a baby, that's a skeeter!" when seeing his newborn sister the first time) but it seems she was especially self-conscious about it in high school when she stood behind the other girls together with the boys in the class photographs. At the date of the novel, as a college-graduate, ca. 1,80 m (5 ft. 11) Skeeter and especially her mother still worry about finding a suitable, not to small boyfriend for her.

* In ''Literature/{{Swynmoor}}'', Topaz's height is never directly provided, but it's noted that she towers over all of the women, and most of the men, of the book, and that her height has resulted in great difficulty in finding suitors.

* ''Series/TheNevers'': Primrose Chattoway is a 16-year-old girl who is at least ten feet tall.
* ''Series/NeverHaveIEver'': Fabiola, which is lampshaded when Devi tells her to date the much shorter Alex Gomez. Her actress stands at 5'9".
* In ''Series/YoSoyBettyLaFea'' there is Sandra Patiño, whose complex in being this trope is as big and tall as her. Because everyone used [[ButtMonkey to pick on her]] because of her height, she is [[HairTriggerTemper extremely prone to random acts of aggression]] if [[BerserkButton minimally provoked]]. She's specially frustrated because she decided to only marry a man who were taller than her, something she has yet to find, leading her to a ChristmasCake existence she constantly complains against.

* Jessie from ''Series/SavedByTheBell'' is so distressed about her height that she has a nightmare where she doesn't stop growing.

* Destiny in ''Series/OneLifeToLive'' overlaps between this and HollywoodPudgy. She's not that ''tall'' but gets bullied for her weight and the fact that they shoot her from the perspective of her [[strike:boy]]friend who's in a wheelchair means she gets the HitlerCam a lot.
* TheReveal from the TV movie ''I Was A Teenage Faust''. [[spoiler: Model/actress Twyla Day]] used to be tall, gangly [[spoiler: Su Su Hiltz before she sold her soul]].
* [[TheDitz Ditzy]] [[TheCheerleader cheerleader]] Brittany from ''Series/{{Glee}}'' who is the tallest girl in the glee club at 5'8. Until [[BrawnHilda Lauren Zizes]] joins.
* Chummy on ''Series/CallTheMidwife'' is a post-school example, though her first episode, where she arrives at Nonnatus House and learns the ropes as a midwife, serves much the same purpose.
* Dorothy from ''Series/TheGoldenGirls'' was this in her teen years, as was Bea Arthur in real life, who was initially picked on for her height but became popular when her razor wit spawned hilarious comebacks.

* Natsu Ayuhara from the ''VideoGame/RivalSchools'' series of fighters is not only the tallest female in the cast, but at 182cm (just under 6 feet) taller than a good number of the male characters as well. She often remarks about how most boys are often afraid of her because of her size, with the exception of her [[TheMasochismTango on-again, off-again boyfriend]] Shoma (who coincidentally is Natsu's [[TheNapoleon polar opposite]] - and she likes to pick on him for this). Well, she's the captain of the volleyball team. That certainly helps her case.

* VideoGame/{{Iji}}, from the game of the same name, is 6'3"; ironically, considering the [[{{BFG}} weapon she totes around]] (designed for aliens who are seven feet tall at minimum), she's frequently mistaken for a case of SmallGirlBigGun.

* Neither teenager nor in school, but [[VideoGame/{{Touhou}} Yuugi Hoshiguma's]] usual outfit greatly resembles a cross between a gym uniform and a long pleated skirt, and fan art frequently has her going either way for {{Fanservice}} reasons. Being an oni, she is also usually drawn head and shoulders ([[MostCommonSuperpower and certain other things]]) above everybody else in the series.
* ''VideoGame/SenranKagura'' has quite a few characters who have passed the 165cm mark. The tallest student from the first batch of games is Daidouji (170cm), and where she might be ''25 years old'' due of her refusing to graduate, she seemed to have been tall even during her high school age. The tallest student overall is Murakumo (172cm).
* ''Videogame/BioShock2'' introduces the Big Sister, which is the result of the {{Creepy Child}}ren of Rapture entering puberty while having their bodies full of mutagen: ancillary material list them as 6' 10" (2m 8 cm) tall, but with relatively small feet (not to mention [[AxCrazy minds beyond broken]]).

* ''VisualNovel/FashioningLittleMissLonesome'': Ema Tachibana was bullied in elementary school because of her height, but once she hit puberty and got even taller, her schoolmates have been avoiding her because of her height and TsurimeEyes, believing that she's terrifying. As a result, Ema has become socially awkward and has a misguided view on life itself. Meeting her two LoveInterests allows her to grow as a person and accept herself. Speaking of which, one of them takes her height measurement, revealing that she has recently grown taller, up to 173.4cm, towering the other love interest by a couple of centimeters.
* Though there isn't much opportunity to show it in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', in the [[MergingTheBranches sort-of]] sequel ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia'' Rider is shown to be fairly self-conscious about her height.
