How do you convey a character is drunk? Well, staggering around and slurring their words (with the occasional AlcoholHic) is the most obvious way. If you want to be more whimsical about it, there's the PinkElephants. If you want to get it across instantly as soon as the audience sees the person, given them a red, bulbous nose. In Japanese media, characters might get a LuminescentBlush or {{Blush Sticker}}s on their cheeks instead of just a red nose.

The TruthInTelevision here, to a limited extent, is ''rhinophyma'', a type of skin condition that causes growth of the nose along with redness and dilation of blood vessels. Traditionally, this has been called a "drinker's nose", but alcohol only aggravates the condition, it is not a root cause. In any event, it is a persistent condition, whereas characters in fiction will only have red noses when they're actually drunk (although for TheAlcoholic, this could be all the time).

* On the WesternAnimation/{{Classic Disney Short|s}} "Alpine Climbers", Pluto falls in the snow and is [[SaintBernardRescue rescued by a Saint-Bernard]], getting drunk on the brandy in his barrel. At the end, both dogs are drunk, and their noses flash red for the IrisOut.

* Franky and Yor from ''SpyXFamily'' have blushy faces in episode 5 after getting drunk in celebration of Anya getting accepted into Eden academy.

* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'', Risa of the [[OneGenderRace Gerudo]] brings this up when roleplaying a conversation with a Hylian man. She pretends the guy is turning red from drink and notes that Gerudo don't because they're [[DarkSkinnedRedhead red already]].

* Not even ten seconds after drinking her first cup of sake in ''VisualNovel/{{CLANNAD}} After Story'', Nagisa's face immediately goes pink and starts to be a ClingyJealousGirl for Tomoya. Her mom Sanae follows, but it's much less extreme.

* ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange2'': In Episode 2, Charles' face clearly suggests he's drunk. That section of the game happens immediately after the end of ''VideoGame/TheAwesomeAdventuresOfCaptainSpirit''.
