If I were allowed to post in forums I might bring this up, but oh well. To me this is symptomatic of poor quality control over at YKTTW. It should not be possible to launch a trope without putting it on an index.

This index is not itself indexed to anything.

Most physical things, due to ''being'' physical, have at least two opposing sides, since there's at least one dimension, exemplified by a cube. A cube has front and back, left and right, and top and bottom.

For non-physical things, like a piece of music, or a television show, they still have the dimension of time, where the opposing sides are usually the beginning and end of the work. But such works can have physical representations, like the parts for the left and right ears, or the left and right of a frame of animation, respectively.

"While opposing sides are usually different, what if they were the same?" That's the idea behind this index.

It's like TwoInOneTropes, because there's two sides in one object, but they don't form a single object of the same type, usually. Unless they do.

Something involving both of a pair of organs, like eyes, arms, or legs, has a good chance of going in this index, since there's a good chance that the organs being symmetric, and therefore there's a lot of overlap with StockPoses.

The amount of "similarity" between ends can vary, and the barest requirement is that they're the same type of thing, such that TwoFaced can count, since the type is "face", even though they look different.

This is basically the opposing index to JuxtapositionTropes, although the latter is a bit broader, allowing non-physical pairings of opposing things, unlike this, which doesn't index things like TheHorseshoeEffect.

The CompetitionIndex, DuelingTropes, and other indexes involving people, have some overlap due to having people interacting and being each of the two sides.

!!Sub-Tropes:
* DualWielding: Trope / Index, about having two weapons, one for each hand.
* PleaseReflectOnThisIndex: Mirrors literally create the second side.
* RhymeTropes: A pair of lines share a ending, and a pair naturally has two sides.
* SplitScreen: People / things, split over two screens, usually at opposite ends of the full screen.
