* ''Manga/DungeonNoOsananajimi'' The premise of the series is that the Childhood Friends of the title are an adventurer and a dungeon's final boss. Van regularly crashes through Ryuuka's dungeon for the sole purpose of hanging out with her. Chapter 2 shows that they met when they were seven years old. Van's family took care of Ryuuka after she got separated from her family, and Van helped her reunite with her parents.

* ''Manga/SeraphOfTheEnd'': Yuichiro and Mikaela first met when the former was brought to the Hyakuya Orphanage, with both being eight years old at the time. After most of the human population died in an apocalyptic event, the orphans were taken as prisoners by vampires and brought to live in an UndergroundCity. Mikaela came up with a plan to escape, but it backfired and most of the orphans were killed by the vampire noble Ferid, with only Yuichiro managing to escape. Four years later, Yuichiro discovers Mikaela is still alive, but has been turned into a vampire. Yuichiro swears to rescue Mikaela from the vampires and turn him back into human so they can be a family again.

* In ''[[Fanfic/ThePartsWePlay Spectator]]'', Effie reveals that, when she was a child, her parents hired Cecilia -- a Victor from District Eight who won the Sixty-First Hunger Games -- as her companion (essentially a non-sexual version of Finnick’s canon contact with other Capitol residents). Despite the circumstances, Effie muses that it worked well for them both, as Effie always knew why Cecilia was there and Cecilia knew that Effie wouldn’t make a pass at her or anything like that, giving them both a certain sense of ‘stability’.
