Sometimes, Whilst unlocking new playable characters is fairly common in games, especially for beating a game will unlock them, these usually just give the ability to play as ''another character entirely'', presenting player a different storyline, often parallel to playstyle and moveset if not just a different appearance. Some games, however, give the main one, which unfolds to reveal newly unlocked character a different path through the game, possibly with entire levels of their own, revealing a side of the story you never knew before...or perhaps simply an amusing PerspectiveFlip, where the former heroes are now [[HeroAntagonist antagonists]] or incidental side characters.
