The music video includes Jennette pinning a photo of her mother on the fridge. According to [=McCurdy=]'s memoir aptly titled ''I'm Glad My Mom Died,'' the song was written by total strangers and completely antithetical to her actual relationship with her mother, who was micromanaging every aspect of her career. In reality, [=McCurdy=]'s mother was severely emotionally abusive and overprotective, guilt-tripping her daughter for even thinking about growing up or doing anything that her mother didn't want her to do.

The lyric "Go ahead and slash me up / 'Cause you know you're the one who won't be found" can come across as particularly eerie since the case was cold for 11 years before stored DNA evidence led to a conviction.
