In the prologue after the Trolls escape the Bergens' Trollstice, Gristle asks his father, "What's gonna make me happy now?" Before Gristle Sr. replies "Nothing!", we get a brief close-up of Bridget.Bridget.

* ''WesternAnimation/PussInBootsTheLastWish'':
** The film gives subtle hints about the Wolf's true identity as [[spoiler:Death, as in [[TheGrimReaper the literal personification of death]],]] and what his intentions are:
*** The numbered cards during the DeathMontage have the wolf with his cowl up and his sickles on the four corners. [[spoiler:As he points out to Puss, he was there for every one of his deaths, but Puss' disregard of the consequences of dying due to having multiple lives meant he never recognized him when he appeared before him]].
*** He makes his very first entrance by suddenly appearing right next to Puss with ghostly silence, hinted at only by a candle nearby Puss blowing out. [[spoiler:The doctor who informed Puss he was on his last life similarly blew out a candle to emphasise Puss' mortality]].
*** When asking for Puss' autograph on his wanted poster, the Wolf asks him to sign "right here" while tapping the word "Dead" in "Dead or Alive".
*** There's a reason the Wolf's preferred weapons are a pair of sickles. And he shows up with a cowl. [[spoiler:Both are very common imagery relating to the Grim Reaper.]]
*** When meeting Puss for the first time, [[DoubleMeaning the Wolf notes that]] [[spoiler:"[[MortalityPhobia Everyone thinks]] they'll be [[ImmortalitySeeker the one to defeat me]]. [[WeAllDieSomeday But no one's escaped me yet]]."]]
*** When Puss claims he "laughs in the face of Death", the Wolf's claw slightly scratches the bar surface in what appears to be a momentary flash of anger before he removes his cowl, saying "So I've heard.", hinting that [[spoiler:he's death itself and is ''not'' happy with Puss' flippancy towards mortality.]]
*** When he manages to cut Puss with a blade for the first time in his life, forcing him to [[NotSoInvincibleAfterAll recognise his own mortality]] and how close he came to dying for good, he visibly relishes his opponent's fear and takes sadistic enjoyment out of prolonging Puss' terror. However, as he advances on him, he sarcastically asks the shaken Puss if his life is flashing before his eyes with an expression that mixes contempt with pity in an almost solemn manner. [[spoiler:As the Grim Reaper, he knows full well how valuable life is and how most people cherish the one single chance they're given, with Puss recognizing how valuable his was only right as he's about to lose it eliciting a small bit of sympathy for his quarry's foolishness]]. This also hints as to ultimately how Puss defeats him: [[spoiler:not by out-fighting as inexorable a foe as Death, but by recognizing and accepting the value of what life he has remaining, convincing Death to wait for his natural mortal ending instead of reaping him early for his arrogance]].
*** When Puss hides from the Wolf behind a locked door, Wolf's shadow impossibly creeps across the floor, as if the door wasn't there.
*** In Puss' second encounter with him, the Wolf places two stray coins over his eyes as he watches him leave. [[spoiler:Ancient Greeks buried their dead with coins over their eyes so they would have money for passage to the Underworld.]]
*** The Wolf keeps appearing out of thin air with seemingly no one but Puss (initially) able to see him, and during the TravelMontage of the parties heading to the Dark Forest in search of the Star, he is the only one not shown. Furthermore, whereas Goldilocks and the bears track Puss through his scent and Jack Horner tracks him by using a crystal ball, it is never shown how the Wolf manages to find Puss so quickly. [[spoiler:As Death is always close to you, he doesn't ''need'' to travel to reach his target, nor is his goal the Star]].
*** His image or name doesn't appear on the Wishing Star map. At first this, along with the fact that nobody else around Puss seems to react to or acknowledge his presence, seems to imply that his appearances are all in Puss' head after his first traumatic encounter with the fearsome hunter. [[spoiler:As the personification of Death itself, it makes sense he wouldn't appear on a map that marks the location of the living within the Dark Forest]].
*** The grey stripe on his facial fur is in the shape of a wolf skull, hinting at his sheer danger level [[spoiler:and true profession]], and when he appears [[RightBehindMe behind Puss]] at the riverside battle, [[spoiler:The surrounding rocks and the white mist that outline him line up in the shape of a skull, hinting as to what he truly is. In fact, given the Dark Forest is [[FisherKing affected by the heart of those who hold the map]], it's implied that the noticeably-darker and symbolic surroundings around him were Death's presence ''literally'' affecting the environment to spell out to Puss what he was]].
*** All the major characters are introduced in the film with a WantedPoster (although Perrito has an ''Un''wanted Poster), with the exception of the Wolf. This is an early hint that the character is more than a simple bounty hunter, because, after all, [[spoiler:who goes around wanting Death himself "dead or alive"?]]
*** During the battle against the Baker's Dozen, when Puss suffers ShellShockSilence when a unicorn horn-inflicted explosion of confetti occurs right next to him, he still somehow hears the wolf's whistle clear as day, despite being able to basically hear nothing else. This hints that he's [[spoiler:very much tied to something closer to Puss than just physical space]].
*** Following from the above, the confetti explosion that occurred before the Wolf's second appearance [[spoiler:was the ''death'' of a baker minion, courtesy of Jack's poor aim]]. And in the previous scenes where the Wolf appears, it's either before or after [[spoiler:a death has occurred onscreen: for the first, with Puss himself losing his eighth life by being crushed by the bell in the beginning; and for the second, after one of the Serpent Sisters is turned by an annoyed Jack Horner into a golden statue. In the climax, the Wolf arrives at the Wishing Star after the last of Jack's minions dies due to his callousness. He sees Puss' CharacterDevelopment and leaves him and the others in peace, but Jack dies shortly thereafter thanks to the interference of Puss and company. So while Death may not have gotten what he wanted in the first place, he isn't leaving empty-handed after all]].
** When the Bears break-in to Jack Horner's house, Baby crashes through the window and smashes another window that has a vanity portrait of Jack Horner. Then, when the family are all gathered together, they are in front of the same spot where said portrait was broken. [[spoiler:This foreshadows how the Bears' next venture would be to take over Jack Horner's pie business now that he's dead, and it was Baby who suggested the idea]].
** During the fight with the giant at the start of the movie, Puss is flung into a sign with the letters J and H, a thumb with a plum on it, and a pie - put together, they form a reference to the nursery rhyme "Little Jack Horner", which is the basis for the villainous Big Jack Horner.
** The town Puss saves from the giant is called Del Mar, implying it's near the ocean. [[spoiler:At the end of the movie, the heroes have stolen the governor's ship from Del Mar's docks.]]
** During the first chase with Jack Horner's henchmen, a flaming arrow shoot by one of them nearly sets the Magic Map on fire until Puss and Kitty manage to extinguish the embers. [[spoiler:In the climax, the map is ultimately destroyed when the Ethical Bug and the Phoenix burn one of the pieces before Jack can reassemble them]].
** When Goldie finally gets her hands on the map there are several hints that whatever Goldie is going to wish for, she already has it. [[spoiler: When Goldie and the bears start playing around and being happy, the map glitches showing that Goldie's wish isn't as concrete as the others, and then only gives her one obstacle, the bears family home. This all foreshadows Goldie's desire for a real family, while also showing she already has it]].

[[JerkJock Chick Hicks]] is assigned with the number 86, which not only references the year Pixar was first established, but also a slang term for being fired. Which is exactly what happened to Chick at the end of the film for deliberately pushing Strip "The King" Weathers off the racetrack.
*** Doc challenging Lightning to a race around Willy's Butte and giving him advice afterwards foreshadows Doc's racing past as The Hudson Hornet, which Lightning himself finds out the following day.
*** After Mater's demonstration of driving backwards, Lightning sarcastically remarks that he may use it in his big race. He does, after Chick rams him and he ends up facing backwards. He simply reverses past him. He also uses it in the final lap, as he reverses out of the way of Chick trying to ram him again, and Chick hits the wall instead.
*** At the race around Willy's Butte, Luigi tells Lightning that Guido's dream is to give a racecar a pit stop. At the final race in California, Guido fulfills that dream in the best way possible, changing all four of Lightning's tires, by himself, in about four seconds. This even makes the moustaches of Chick's pit crew drop off in amazement.
*** There are a few unnoticeable hints at Lightning's HeelFaceTurn throughout the film:
**** When Harv calls him while on the way to California, he is reminded if he has any friends he can give the extra tickets to but can't think of any; when Harv hangs up, he slumps forward in sadness.
**** He is immediately lovestruck the moment Sally first appears, not through manipulation like he tried to do with Mater at the impound, but through true, genuine feelings.
**** Sally says to Lightning that she and Sheriff "siphoned his gas" while he was in the impound, foreshadowing the film's aesop that it's nice to slow down and enjoy life, which he says word per word after their drive together.
**** While trying to fix the road, Bessie spits some tar on his right lightning bolt sticker which he has for most of his stay. This symbolizes that his ego has become slightly "darkened".
**** When Lightning flirtatiously teases Sally about her pinstriping tattoo on her back, he is serious and actually being nice to her.
**** Just before his departure, he is shown shedding tears as he talks with Sally. When he first arrived he wanted to go immediately, but now he's so sad he doesn't want to leave his new friends.
** ''WesternAnimation/Cars2'':

%% ** *** Also, the line "But I ''never'' leak oil!"oil!" [[spoiler:Guess who was with Mater when the tow truck saw a puddle of oil on the carpet!]]
*** At the same time when the leaking occurs, the oil has a rather jagged and pointed area which points in the direction of Axelrod, [[spoiler: foreshadowing who really leaked.]]
*** A blink-and-you-miss when the leaking occurs. Axelrod flinches and reverses away from the oil, but Mater does not. Also, he sounds nervous as he backs away, and seems to grunt slightly before the oil is released.
*** Three words. "Rear view mirrors." [[spoiler: You can see Axlerod's rear view mirrors on the Lemon Kingpin while he's making his speech.]]
*** A minor one; during the TravelMontage, Lightning and Mater pass a billboard of Lightning being advertised as a vacuum cleaner called "Lightning [=McClean=]". This happens to come into big detail in ''WesternAnimation/Cars3'' when Sterling wants to take Lightning off the racing circuit to become a merchandise brand.

For such a saintly figure, such a venomous choice of words is very jarring, with "making a point" not excusing it. It doesn't help that when Marmalade says "walking garbage", he gets a very smug expression on his face. ** Marmalade's training exercises for the Bad Guys are as simple as sharing a push pop, helping an "old lady" across the street, and rescuing a cat out of a tree. His follow-up idea is [[spoiler:committing eco-terrorism on an animal testing lab with a detailed course of action and knowledge of the building's layout.
