* SadlyMythtaken: Odin and Loki are not father and son in Myth/NorseMythology, they are bond brothers. It's such a huge mistake that either the writers just didn't care or their only familiarity with Norse mythology was from Marvel's version. They're second cousins at most. And Loki would not have fooled Odin by telling him Balder was coming back because Balder is [[DeadToBeginWith dead]]... because Loki killed him (indirectly, but still).

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

Nine months later, out pops young Alvey Avery, the [[TheEponymousShow titular]] son of the Mask, who's sometimes cute, but mostly an [[{{Jerkass}} insufferable sadist]] and smack dab in the middle of the UncannyValley. When Tonya leaves town for business, Tim is left taking care of him, and Alvey proceeds to drive his dad totally insane with his bizarre abilities - which he does not need the Mask to use. Joining the battle royale is the family dog, Otis, who wears the Mask and uses its powers [[FamilyUnfriendlyViolence to try to kill Alvey because he doesn't want to compete for Tim's attention]].

Those aren’t plot holes within the movie itself, just retcons at worst.

* PlotHole: Several, how ''did'' they get the Mask back?
** [[spoiler:Stanley Ipkiss threw the mask into the river, and Milo and Charlie ''both'' jumped in to get it, and Milo is seen swimming away with it at the end.]] Alternatively, the sequel shows Otis finding the mask in another river.
** It was stated in the first movie that the mask only works at night, but Otis was able to use the mask's power in the day without any explanation given.

Removing audience reaction cruft.

When it came out, ''Son Of The Mask'' got near-universally negative reviews from critics and audiences for being [[{{Sequelitis}} inferior to the original film]] and for its massive amounts of UncannyValley.[[note]]Sad thing is on the special features on the DVD, the cast and production team is very happy about making it. They talk excitedly about their roles and describe the [[SpecialEffectFailure top-notch special effects]] this movie "pioneered". ([[TookTheBadFilmSeriously They were proud of their baby, in other words.]])[[/note]] As the movie had time to settle down, though, the film has been somewhat VindicatedByHistory; whilst most still wouldn't call it a good movie, reactions have progressed to mostly mixed and [[CriticalBacklash many don't see it as bad as it was made it out to be when it was released]], citing it at least as a nice love letter to old school cartoons (particularly those of Creator/TexAvery and Creator/BobClampett). Alan Cumming's portrayal of Loki was also applauded.

** It was clearly established in the first movie that the mask only works at night, so how was Otis able to wear it during the day?

The plot concerns failed cartoonist Tim Avery (Creator/JamieKennedy), who is afraid of conceiving a child with his wife Tonya (Creator/TraylorHoward) because he believes his kid would be ashamed of him and his dead-end job.
